Incredibly high level of fitness combined with jaw-dropping skating speed and scary physical strength. Possesses a dangerous wristshot. Needs to be more willing to go to the dirty areas. Comparable(s): A more talented version of Marian Gaborik NHL readiness: Would benefit from another year or two of development but could get a look in the NHL as early as next season. Leo Dos Santos, LW/RW – Tri-City Americans, WHL Winger with pure offensive instincts. An excellent skater with speed to burn. Has outstanding hockey sense and effectively reads the play. A creative playmaker who has a knack for pulling unexpected moves. Excellent puck handler who is capable of impressive puck control. Needs to improve his physical strength and defense. Comparable(s): A more talented version of Mikhail Grabovsky NHL readiness: Needs another year or two of development to round out his game before he’s NHL ready. Rezi Modos, C/RW – North York Rangers, OPJHL Huge center who looks to score at every opportunity. Strong-willed competitive player who brings his A-game every night and excels under pressure. Phenomenal skater and a natural scorer who is very dangerous in the offensive zone. Passes with unerring accuracy. Needs to improve his defense. Comparable(s): Eric Staal NHL readiness: Would greatly benefit from making the jump to either major junior or the AHL to play against better competition. Maybe a year or two away from being NHL ready. Pakiam Brandon Ali II, LW/RW – Rocky Mountain Rage, CHL Big winger with pure offensive instincts. A tough, aggressive competitor who works hard every night. Good skater with speed to burn. Very aggressive, punishing player with impressive physical strength. Very good checker who often forces turnovers. Has a good wristshot. Needs to improve his passing and stickhandling. Comparable(s): Rick Nash NHL readiness: Could step into a bottom-six role next season but would be better off spending a year or two in college first. Frank Ketchup, G – Moose Jaw Warriors, WHL Big goaltender who flops around but maintains control. Displays amazing agility and can challenge shooters with excellent balance. Lightning fast glove hand and a solid blocker. Very good with his angles and handles rebounds very well. Needs to improve his puck-handling skills. Comparable(s): More talented versions of Corey Crawford and Ray Emery NHL readiness: Needs to finish up his junior career at the very least, and may need another year or two in the AHL before he’s ready to push for an NHL job. The upside is there but he’s still quite raw. Stanislav Gorbatenko, C – Vancouver Northeast Chiefs, BCMML Center who is purely an attacking player. Very competitive player who never takes a shift off and can log high minutes. Possesses elite speed and reads the play very well. A magician with the puck who will wait for the right pass. Good at face-offs and a superb passer with a good wristshot. Needs to improve his physical strength and defense. Comparable(s): Eric Staal, a more talented version of Mike Ribeiro NHL readiness: Would greatly benefit from making the jump to either major junior or the AHL to play against better competition. At least a couple of years away from making the NHL. Methinks Eric Stall been seeing ladies all over the world.
