Travis Green Line Combos

Travis Green line combos make little to no sense most of the time to me. The defense is another story because right now it looks unfixable. But last year Travis made some decent adjustments to the lineup after we had injuries up front that actually produced well. Why didn’t he stick with those lineups and give them a fair shot all the way through? Miller/Petey/Virtanen was a line that was working once upon a time. I know rewarding an inconsistent player with more ice time isn’t sending the best message, but Jake is actually useless anywhere else. Also Zac MacEwan was working well playing with Bo in their limited time together last year, we need more big bodies in the top 6 to create some room for our star players. Would also be nice to see Justin Bailey in the lineup, he brings size and speed that we definitely need over Roussel. Doesn’t have to be a permanent change but we need to at least try to shake things up.

Miller - Petey - Virtanen

Hoglander - Horvat - MacEwan

Motte - Sutter/Gaud - Boeser

Pearson - Beagle - Bailey

Just a rough idea.

Just a rough idea.

I really dont get why Pearson who has been playing good and scored goals these last two games gets demoted while an inconsistent enigma like Virtanen is rewarded 1st line duties. MacEwan is not a 2nd line player and Boeser is not a bottom 6 forward. This actually makes the offense which is still scoring goals much worse while it doesnt address the main problem which is our defensive play.

I would Honestly try something else to bring in more depth. Something we haven't tried is giving Miller his own line.

Gaudette-Petey-Boeser

Motte-Horvat-Hoglander

Pearson-Miller-Virtanen

whatever for the 4th line

We also need a trade for D. Theres no fixing that without bringing an adequate Tanev replacement in.

Problem is that the 1st line will give up or should I say, Homorrhage goals against while not having Millers drive and toughness to help Pettersson and Boeser. It would be an ultra soft first line thats easily shutdown. Pearson and Horvat have chemistry, so I wouldnt break that up for Motte.

The main thing I'm getting at is we need something different. I don't care who the wingers are, but lets get some changes.

Good, another thread moaning about Green.

All I have to say about Green is that the taxi squad should’ve been used to it’s fullest during this part of the schedule.  Even if they’re journeyman minor leaguers.  Keep everyone fresh.

If you look at the ice times for our roster, there is a big discrepency between the smaller skilled players and the big heavy players. Green is all "run and gun" and no "bang and crash" at all. Its sad because this team is getting frustrated with the same "losing" formula.

Green just seems to be draining any confidence this team had and growing the frustration, exponentially , shift by shift.

what has Green "earned"?

Just a rough idea.

Jake doesn't belong on the first line, and Boeser doesn't belong on the  third. NO put the lines back where they were. you showing Boeser as an extra. the guy who has the most goals.  thats crazy

Check out the plus/minus players on the team, something has to give. Getting goals are pointless if you are letting more goals in then you are scoring. This is the "end of the Sedins career" all over again.

We need a complete "200 ft game" from everyone.

How do we know Mac isnt a top 6 player?  Hes been a top 6 at every level.  He has the physical tools and determination.  There are tons of players in the league playing consistently in the top 6 that most didnt expect to.

But at this point id either leave Hogs with Petey or even try Mac there.  Boeser on that line looks horrendous.

Put Brock with Bo.

Miller - Petterson - Hoglander

Pearson- Horvat - Boeser

Gaudette-Sutter-Virtanen

Mackewan - Beagle - Motte

Roussel
