BoKnows
Imagine this, you just got a job working for the NHL. After COVID the NHL wants to rebrand completely and go international. Gary Bettman asks you to pick 32 cities around the world to host NHL teams. What 32 cities do you pick? This is obviously completely hypothetical, so have fun with it. My League will include: North America Toronto Montreal Vancouver New York City Los Angeles Washington D.C Philadelphia Chicago Europe Moscow Berlin London Paris Helsinki Stockholm St. Petersburg Prague Rome Istanbul Asia Seoul Tokyo Osaka Bangkok Beijing Shanghai Hong Kong Ho Chi Minh Other Sydney Melbourne Rio de Janeiro Buenos Aires Cape Town Dubai I feel like this can make for a fun conversation.

-AJ-
If we're doing it based on market size and interest, I have to imagine NA and EU would have all the teams. I can't imagine there's much interest in ice hockey in OCE.

Hockey in London in the UK has been tried and tried and never worked. whilst the city size is there, there is far to much competition from football, rugby union, other entertainment facilities etc. if you want to drop a team in the UK there are two places that would make it work, and possibly if you are lucky if it was nhl you might even get people from both areas going to a single team. that would be either Nottingham or Sheffield. Drop and NHL team in one of those and you have the M1 corridor as the catchment area between the two cities. argubly in the past Manchester has proven it can generate reasonable crowds (14k in the Manchester arena back in the late 90s early 00s when they played in the European cups, but that was a long while ago) in Italy Rome is not the place to put it. The ice hockey culture is up north in the mountains - if you wanted a city to stick it in that might work it would be Milan. also no Swiss teams in Europe - you mad! thr best European wide would not be to hit the capitals but large cities on or around the alps
