[Proposal]Jake Virtanen (Van) for Logan Brown (Ott)

Recommended Posts

Change of scenery for both players might be what they need?

Canucks trade:

Jake Virtanen 2.55m cap hit

2021 3rd/4th round pick

for

Logan Brown 900k cap hit?

2022 TB 2nd round pick

Canucks drop another pick this year but gain another 2nd in 2022.

I'd do it, the 3rd line could use a play-maker, plus his size should help (maybe him on the wing with Sutter up the middle and any of MacEwen/ Motte/ Roussel on the opposite wing).  He was noted for not always playing hard though, hope he's worked on that, and hope he can develop into a 3rd line C as his % is atrocious (41% on the dot).

We have solid C's who should be able to help him on his draws. Also, I am hoping he could maybe turn into a C like Adam Lowry in WinterPeg

Virtanen for Sam Bennett is still our best play in my opinion.

Bennett is good defensively (unlike Gaudette) and has a decent enough offensive game where he's not a black hole there (unlike Sutter who often has difficulty utilizing his teammates).    I realize that there are better 3rd line centres out there such as Radek Faska and Colton Sissons, but good 3rd line centres are rarely made available.

Canucks need a solid defensive center that can help out Horvat in this regard, and they also need a center that wouldn't look completely out of place on the top 6 in case of injuries.   This is why I think Sam Bennett is our guy.

If Calgary like Jake this deal would have been done already imo. It is very similar to the Laine-Dubois deal, very logical trade to make so maybe it will happen just needs more time to marinate in both GM's heads.

I prefer to trade Jake outside our normal division myself.

We would be adding to that deal, Virt is not on the same value as Debrusk. let alone the cap hits are 1m apart too which makes it a no go from us

but Boston loves physical players (Jake physical hehehe) so hopefully they are still in love with WJC Jake lol

apparently DeBrusk is weak along the boards but he's a much better finisher at the NHL level than Jake.

You might be right as far as Jake/Bennett goes.   Hopefully, that isn’t the case and Calgary is still open to that (maybe they’re just discussing some minor details and links).

We don't need anymore weak perimeter type players if that is the case. We are almost team Charmin as it stands, just like vs Vegas come playoffs this team would have such a hard time against bigger physical teams...You don't need goons but you need guys who will go after someone if they targer 1 of your key players and have more than 1 guy that will go and pick a fight to try and light a fire under his teams ass...or we could stay status quo, go down by a couple goals early and do absolutely nothing instead, cause that has been working great so far!?

I would be curious what Brian Burke would do with this team, he like everyone else is not a perfect GM but I do think his value of having bigger body players is still a positive thing to have.

Hate to break this to you. No one in the NHL thinks WJC Jake still exists.

I'd do that deal as long as Brown's father is not allowed around any of the Canuck's wives or girlfriends...

I won some cash curtesy of Jeff Brown.

Picked him for a playoff game winner at a pub back in the day.

But yes, he was a good player but bad team mate.
