[Proposal] Extend Eriksson's contract

Hi Canucks fans - I've got a bold move we could make to spark the team.

 

So, I think we should reward our best defensive player for all his hard work, in a time where defensive play seems to be our kryptonite. And he's a veteran player so he would be a great mentor for our young skaters. Maybe he'll even take a discount to stay in Vancouver?

 

I think an extension along the lines of 6 years, 5.75m/yr would probably do the trick. Don't wanna let him walk for nothing like our other recent UFAs.

 

As long as Seattle doesn't take him in the expansion draft, I think it would really solidify our PK and our empty net scoring for our "window" years of opportunity as Petey and the gang hit their primes.

 

If you're Benning, do you get this deal inked now, or wait till the offseason to see how the market pans out?

He is an Empty net Specialist. Do you honestly think we can keep him here? Look at the pre-covid contracts that many already signed and a flat cap. Think it will be closer to 8x8

It's true that there aren't many players that bring all the little things that he does, but I think due to the loyalty our management has shown him (not to mention the love and adoration from the fans), he may just take that hometown discount to stay and play with a future cup contender. Just one fans humble opinion.

With all the money he’s been paid; why not have him buy the team?  Rename the team...the Vancouver Erikssons !
