Benning prioritizes character though.  You don't want a classless piece of garbage like Lucic around our young players while he disgraces the franchise on and off the ice.  It would be a Messier 2.0 situation and I am glad we avoided it.  As lazy as Eriksson is, at least he isn't a cancer in the locker room.

Lucic is not garbage nor a locker room cancer.

Lucic was willing to take a little bit less money/term to sign here but Edmonton just went over and above to make sure they get him.  I still think that Lucic would've been a great fit with us...  not worth the money that he would've gotten, but still better then any other free agent that was signed that off-season.  Let's not forget the other guys that signed that summer....

Frans Nielsen got a 5 year, 32 mil deal

Okposo 6 years, 42 mil

Andrew Ladd 5 years, 39 mil

David Backes 5 years, 30 mil

Darren Helm 5 years, 20 mil

Troy Brouwer 4 years, 17 mil

People don't have this perspective when they're clamoring on about the bad contracts that are on the books today.  NHL was an inflationary place up until last year and the cap had been going up every single year for a long long time.

Rarely do UFA earn their worth, you pay for past performances

I would rather ignore the high profile ones

Most GMs do that.  But man did we luck into not making that mistake.  At least LE doesn’t hurt you defensively on the ice.  All Lucic can do now is fight.

I think that goes both ways.

All Loui can do out there is not hurt you defensively at least Lucic can protect the kids.

Their both washed up bums which one is the bummier bum is not really worth wasting braincells on. The only correct response here is at least LE's contract expires next year.

I've talked about it on here before, 6 million for Lucic was the going rate at the time, and yes he is no where near that value now. But I know for a fact that he turned down 7 million to go play in Montreal because he wouldn't put on a Habs jersey after the Boston days.

I don’t think Tkachuck would such a $h1t disturber without Lucic in the line up.

Well, when Lucic was still in his prime (as lethal for this actual hockey skills as well as his fists), he didn't prevent this guy (Lucic was even actually on the ice at the time) from doing his usual type of head hunting hits:

Neal was very good last year. Maybe he could be a replacement for Toffoli?

Yeah, what about his 5 million in salary? He wasn't very good last year, he was very good for the 1st half only...?

Still doesnt deserve a waiver imo, they'd rather ace Devin Shore than him.

JB could sign him for 1 year and at a reduced rate , but who knows what JB has planned as jake and adam are in trade rumors, guess JB waiting to see how the series with flames goes

In 3 years, after his current contract is over, it would be possible to sign him.

I wouldn't, but it is possible.

I agree. People use hindsight to indicate they would've done a better job

I would've done a better job - not hindsighting - I would have signed Okposo instead lol.:ph34r::bigblush::shock:
