Well, being 3rd last is nothing to celebrate about in a 31 team league.

You seen the standards around here? You feed people crap sandwiches for 7 years and they're saying "don't worry, just two more years of crap sandwiches (at least) and perhaps we will then stop eating crap sandwiches". We're heading towards Stockholm Syndrome soon.

Never seen a fan base more content with dumpster fire teams and bottom-feeding finishes. At least not one that's considered to be "hockey mad".

I honestly think Canucks will finally end up drafting in the Top 3. But as Canuck luck dictates it's pretty pointless since this is a pandemic year and I doubt prospects are being scouted as well as other years so a #3 pick seems to be as good as a #15 pick this year.

Except top 3 picks it's easier to know what you're gonna get. Picks around that #15 mark is where extensive scouting would come more into play

I actually feel bad for Buffalo, Taylor Hall is synonymous with losing. I hope he makes lots of money in his career because I truly believe that’s all that matters to him.

I mean, Buffalo is pretty synonymous with losing too.

Even with less scouting guys in the top 3 should still be good. Luke Hughes, Owen Powers

Owen Powers. Now thats a manly name.

As much as another brother combo would be cool, is Luke Hughes also pale, greasy and undersized?

Well, we won, now we’re the 5th worst team and y’all are partying like we won the cup, that’s why we’ll never win the cup in any of our lifetimes, quit celebrating failure.

Am just seeing the light at the end of the tunnel with Hoglander play this year, Podkolzin soon signing this year, possible Tryamkin signing and gokd prospects like Rathbone coming up. Also people need to watchout for Arvid Costmar who might be a great pick again. Not to mention 30 million dollars coming off in the next 2 years.

Well I agree with you on Hogs - he's looking like a might fine pick, however I'm a bit concerned about Pod's after he had his brain checked out of his head in one of the worst looking head blows I've seen in awhile - in game in Russia on the weekend.  (Hope he's O.K. but concerned he's been concussed).

As for Tryamkin, he's big and unshakeable but I don't think he'll ever be a top 4 D'man and as for future prospects who knows?  Finally we actually get about $20M this year and a bit more next year off the books - of deadwood/bad contracts, so hopefully JB does not do any more L.E. type signings and uses the money wisely because this will be his last crack at getting things right as our star players move into prime.

Well, after last nights loss to Winterpeg, we've slipped back down to third worst P% in the league @ .405 and worst record over the last 10 games 2-7-1. On the bright side, we still have a good lead over the two worst teams in the National Hockey league (Ottawa & Detroit) so we certainly can't be called the worst team by any stretch of the imagination.  So things could be worse!

CDC is amazingly positive for the most part.

Team makes the playoffs: see?  Benning's plan is working.

Team is a bottom feeder again: our draft guru GM with another top pick!

Nobody is doing that.   31/32 teams in the league...celebrate math and send your complaints to NHL headquarters.   We are the bridesmaids compared to a lot of teams over the last 50 years.    At least we have that - if we didn't we'd be well...TO.

Damn you got me!

That said there is reasons to be positive.   Imagine if the team was as neurotic as its fans on here.   Mental health would need to become a priority.   It's just a game.   Don't mistake homerism for realism.   If all things were equal (cap mostly does that) and every team started this year anew.   1/31 chance at a cup.    That's enough right there to be absolutely pessimistic about our chances.   I for one detest expansion.  Dilutes the talent,  and is depressions arithmetic.   I still get a choice though - and i choose not to complain and about the micro view.   Another top 15 pick should help the cause.   Acceptance.   Same with another chance at some playoff games.   Cycles these days go on for a decade plus.   We missed the playoffs for four years - not a decade almost like CAR.    And our closest comp is Detroit who's on their second rebuild now.   It is what is.   Doesn't mean i don't want us to be the best - of course that's what all fans want.

I'm told rebuilds aren't linear, so really no matter what happens, Benning's plan is working great.

You're constantly changing your arguments to fit your own perceptions of stuff. I don't see anyone who thinks Benning's work is perfect. Contrary to that, I see guys like you romanticize the work of Gillis. Having experienced both tenures, I do see the similarities and differences. You just don't hold Gillis to the same standard as Benning. That doesn't make you a reliable commentator. Furthermore, your mudflinging at certain people who approve stuff that Benning does shows how biased you are.

I never said Gillis was perfect. I was actually, at the time, in favour of firing Gillis but since then have realized that it was the wrong move (albeit at the time I wasn't aware of the owner's involvement near the end of Gillis's tenure).

When it comes to Benning vs Gillis, I don't much care for the comparison. I only bring it up when someone argues that Gillis didn't leave Benning with enough assets. I'm more concerned about what Benning has/hasn't done instead on his own volition instead of what he's done compared to Gillis.
