So Eric Staal plus 50% salary retention nets a 3rd and 5th.

Ya, good luck to JB trying to get something for expiring contracts by this trade deadline :picard:

I'd be satisfied with that return for any of our expiring contracts.

19 games left:

5 Edm

4 Cgy

4Tor

4Ott

2 Wpg

4-1 Edm, 3-1 Cgy, 2-2 Tor

4-0 Ott, 1-1 Wpg.

Nux would wind up at 30 - 23 - 3 for 63 points and would be right on the bubble of in or out of the playoffs.

Not likely, but this has been a weird year already so let's see. We are done with Mtl which is good and we only have 2 left against Wpg which is also good.  We have been very competitive with everyone else who represent 17 of our remaining 19 games.

If the splits go as above we would for sure finish ahead of Cgy and Ott.  We would be very close to Edm for 4th if we go 4 - 1 with them.  They are going to lose some games and fall  back in the pack a bit as the season draws to a close as they will likely continue to have trouble with Tor and Wpg.

Hey, gotta have fun while sitting at home lol.

All this is to say that with the Canucks now out of the playoff hunt, they should turn their attention to the long-term.

https://theprovince.com/sports/hockey/nhl/vancouver-canucks/habs-trade-a-template-of-what-could-be-for-canucks-ahead-of-deadline

from a province article , but ya we should start looking at who we should trade and start looking for the future...since no matter what we post here, we wont be making the playoffs, which is fine not like we deserve it

....and Montreal has 3 games in a row against the Senators coming up next, after having a week of rest due to Covid protocols.... with a 4th game against Ottawa that was scheduled for today postponed.  Barring something unusual, you have to expect Montreal to win 3 of 4 out of those games.

I'm almost positive Ottawa finishes last, I'm reasonablly confident the Canucks will beat out Calgary, but the others look uncatchable.

Their facilities are shut down.  It’s not really an advantage to be sitting out a full week in the middle of the season without being able to train.

Need to basically take 4 out of 6 in their final games against Edmonton. Do that and they have a chance.

Leaves the Canucks 4 points back and Edmonton with 2 games in hand.

Tough to catch them.

Well hopefully the Leafs do us a favour in their next game and it’s only one game in hand.

But yea it will be tough for sure. Basically need to win 4 in regulation against the Oilers and then win 3 more than them in our other games.

It’s not impossible though. Any team can go into a funk at the wrong time. We’ve seen the Canucks do it many times.

tough enough if they were healthy.  they needed to get a center or two back - instead they lost another one.

awfully hard to beat any team consisently with 3 centers out - let alone teams that have lethal one-two punches down the middle....I think the last three games (and the additional loss of Sutter) were pretty much fatal to this team's hopes.

Unfortunately they've also lost their two best rentals to injury...hard to get too engaged in a potential Benn return....Hamonic is reportedly not waiving/going nowhere...and Edler - it's hard to imagine him in another jersey (although if he wanted an opportunity to be rented for a playoff run, he could bring a nice return - possibly recoup what was spent on Toffoli...)  I would not be betting on an Edler rental.

This year's a bust. We need to trade for drafts and loose the expensive 3rd and 4th liners.

Agree.   Under NO circumstance should any of the OLD contracts be renewed.   We need to rejuvenate the bottom 6 and a couple of D.......not to mention getting rid of Lazy Jake.
