Ummm... could it be that he was one of the most beloved players in team history?

I’m just saying. This is general hockey discussions board. .  Firing of a head coach is a big deal. There’s little discussion about why he was fired or regarding his actual replacement.

Not sure why Montreal did this.

They are in play off contention with 22 points in 18games, good for 4th spot.

3 points up  on Calgary with a game in hand

4 points up on Vancouver with 5 games in hand

9 points up on  Ottawa with 3 games in hand

1 point behind Winnipeg, same games played

3 points behind Edmonton, with 3 games in hand

8 points behind Toronto with 2 games in hand.

Something else, other than play off concerns going on?

If there's a guy you need to model yourself after it's Burr. Worked his way into the NHL the hard way. Never gave up. And was part of one of the best lines in the Vancouver Canucks. Burr = hard work. If his coaching the same as his playing, he's going to be head coach in the NHL some day.

Only on CDC does Montreal firing their head coach and assistant coach become all about them adding Burrows as an assistant coach. Lol.

read the quote above. It has nothing to do with "Montreal" whatsoever. The discussions around Burr some day being a coach here started the day he was traded to Ottawa.

Their position has nothing to do with it.  They’ve been abysmal on special teams and the players Julien hadn’t been able to fix it.  The players have turned him out.

Well no $&!#? He’s a franchise icon

Super.  But the promotion of an assistant coach is really secondary news to the firing of a head coach.  It’s just funny that we’re 3 pages in and there hasn’t been a single mention of Ducharme

Damn....Burr deserves this, just wish we were creative enough to see some of the talent we have within.

Manny, Burr, Bieksa.

Canadiens put Burr onto their AHL Laval team for experience. I think Burr, Manny and Bieksa were all legit candidates for Van coaching. Kevin might be enjoying the media game to much to do otherwise. I think Green needs help.
