Even though they are playing well better than us too, but they still fired the coach. Us? Oh another year of crap? Sure. Reactionary move removing the head coach and downgraded. The Canadiens whom were in a slide will now keep sliding lol. Awesome opportunity for Burrows though. Dude got fired from a stacked roster, remember that. 1
khay
Congrats to Burr! But wow! Julien is fired despite having a decent record thus far.

They are in play off contention with 22 points in 18games, good for 4th spot. 3 points up on Calgary with a game in hand 4 points up on Vancouver with 5 games in hand 9 points up on Ottawa with 3 games in hand 1 point behind Winnipeg, same games played 3 points behind Edmonton, with 3 games in hand 8 points behind Toronto with 2 games in hand. Something else, other than play off concerns going on? Perhaps disagreement in personnel deployment? Bergevin wanting certain players to get more ice time? Yeah, their current record doesn't justify the firing.
nux4lyfe
This makes no sense to me, They weren't even doing that bad. 9-5-4. But props to management for having a pair to make changes, Unlike the joke of the personnel we have. Losing 50 plus yrs and counting.. BPA
Story book ending would be after 2yrs learning the trade, Burr signs here as head coach and leads a contending Canucks team to the Stanley cup final for the win.

kloubek
Good on Burrows. Would have liked to see him back with us, but it is what it is. Was surprised to see CJ canned. I know Montreal has been a little lackluster lately, but it's the same coach that had them rolling earlier in the season, so....
Trebreh
Burrows was a smart hockey player, I wonder if it will translate to his coaching. It sucks that a fan fav here is carving a new career with a different franchise wish him success though.

Mackcanuck
Bring back Burr and Manny to replace Green and Newell Brown and Bieksa to coach the "D"! Edited February 24, 2021 by Mackcanuck

He played with passion and determination every shift. If he can instill half of that into his players they will succeed. None of the Canuck's coaches (now that Malhotra is gone) ever played that way. I wonder if Bieksa would take an assistant coaching job? 1
JeremyCuddles
We lose Manny to Toronto and Burr goes to Montreal. But we are holding on to Green, Baumer and Brown. For reasons I guess. Montreal fired a coaching staff that was 9-5-4. We are holding on to a 8-13-2 coaching staff, this is a record for a team that just went 3 rounds deep in the playoffs. With that said, I understand it's a pandemic and firing a coaching staff kinda puts us in a tough spot. Especially if the potential candadites are in the US. They'd have to quarantine for 2 weeks before coaching the team. Still annoying we are losing out on great former players to other teams. We should be first in line for these guys. Or in Manny's case holding on to him. He was the one thing I liked about our coaching staff.

nux4lyfe
I wouldn't mind Ohlund or Salo for the D coaching position, Bieksa fits too nicely on the panel but I'd take him in a heartbeat. 1
