Popular Post oldnews
I recall the usual suspects blowing head gaskets because Calgary was able to sign Nordstrom and Simon to such 'steals'....meanwhile, we're stuck with Beagle.... Simon has played only 9 games and is on waivers.... 64.3% ozone starts 47.2% corsi 0 pts, 0 Nordstrom 53.6% ozone starts 45.1% corsi 21 games, 0 pts, -5 of course, all ''plugs' are interchangeable / make no difference. AV.
Dominik Simon didn't cost them the Flames a chance to re-sign key players, did he? Makes you wonder... 1 1

For all the slagging Benning gets for this offseason for NOT SIGNING LONG TERM CONTRACTS, Montreal and Calgary are stuck with long contracts that have marginally improved their team. Which is it, CDC? Should Benning commit long term contracts for players like Tanev/Markstrom and make the mistake of Eriksson all over again? OR not sign them and still get bashed for it? CDC doesn't seem to be able to make up its mind. Armchair GMing is glorious on here. Edited March 4, 2021 by Dazzle

Now that the season is lost at least seeing Calgary struggle as well is a decent consolation prize

People have been against signing players to long-term contracts, all the while being rah-rah about how Calgary improved by adding in Tanev and Markstrom who are both signed to long terms. It seems people want to bash Benning, but contradict themselves at the same time. LOL. I'm all for bashing certain people if they deserve it, but you must make a good case. I think our hindsight will eventually lead us to think that we did the right thing this off-season. Coaching staff has to go and there needs to be a major overhaul of the roster, especially when the contracts expire. There's a difference between committing money and term to your starting goaltender and top pairing defenceman versus fourth line players. Hope this helps.

There's a reason the Hurricanes walked away from him, despite him being one of the main faces of their 'buncha jerks" movement and it has everything to do with his injury history.

You do realize that before we signed him he went through a physical and was cleared. If he stayed healthy he brings an element this team really misses.
