Can’t wait for the players pregame availability “ we all jus need to give an extra 10%” speech...

Well, playing in Canada, they will have to give an extra 40% haha

These next 2 games against the Leafs will be huge. They have been terrorizing their opponents and if we can manage to take these games, it could get the team rolling in the right direction. On the flip side, if they dominate us like they did with the Oilers, this could be the trigger JB needs to make some moves to ship out vets on expiring deals for picks or prospects.

This season has been hard to watch as a fan but I consider Buffalo and Detroit to be hot messes as they have been in the mud for a while now and continue to play poorly whereas we have more to hope in for the present and the future, but time will tell I guess. If the playoffs seem out of reach, we need to focus on the draft and moving out any assests on our roster which other teams could see fitting their needs.

According to our genius coach we are already trending in the right direction

It's pretty obvious if you've watch games that the last handful have been better the the first handful.

2 plays lost us last game. 2 mistakes. Big ones but that was it. 2 periods were losing us games at the beginning of the season.

Green is likely gone at the end of the disappointing season and rightfully so. But unless you're wearing a black and white striped shirt you should be able to see the improvement from virtually every player.

I wish we still had a guy like Burrows on the team. Nobody is playing with heart this year.

We need a spark-plug type of player who will bring the Canucks back to life.

Let's hope pod is that guy??

Buffalo is a hot mess.

Our season thus far has just been very disapointing given what happened in the bubble and how we played. Future is still very bright for this club though.

I agree.  The key is that the core is young enough to have some very good years ahead.  Maybe as much as 4 years or even 5.  Boeser is looking like a real hockey player now, and Pettersson and Hughes are learning to play through some uneven (actually pretty bad) stretches. The real learning has to be in management though.  How to keep a core together with as many other good players as you can find, without breaking the bank or over-committing to the likes of Eriksson and Beagle (or even Holtby for 2 years at 4 plus million.)   Basically, it looks like a 2-tier NHL with some room for maneuver: Make sure you can get your McDavids and Draisaitls signed and in leadership mode (Boeser, Horvat, Pettersson and Hughes in our case) and figure out the rest of the team within a real budget.

The best thing that could ever happen for the Canucks would be to spearhead a move to destroy the salary cap system in favour of a more free-wheeling system like they have in European soccer.  But, barring that... they are going to have to get management that doesn't need to learn at such a costly pace.  The other fantasy is that we devolve back to a type of hockey where you need smaller teams, more like Rugby, the way hockey used to be.  A team of 2 goalies, 5 D, and 7 forwards. Less about sprinting around, no more on-the-fly line changes, the way hockey was.  A team would make the same revenues but be able to meet the payroll without all these bizarre machinations we have today.
