I'm not going to lie, I was screaming...absolutely screaming at the T.V. when I saw all three players in O.T. skating in the same 4 feet of ice in the neutral zone.and seeing Hughes casual skate OUT IN O.T.  for 3 and a half minutes  I really don't know how we pulled this win out but 2 pts is 2 pts

Just finished PVR Great game by both Hamonic and Myers...

Great to see the hard work finally paying off... a couple of weeks ago these games were all being lost.

anything...................................................possible.

The fact that there is a decent chance of us returning to the cup finals 10+ years later before any other team in Canada always puts things in perspective for me. People seem to think that when a team rebuilds it will automatically become successful,  yet the truth is that usually isn't the case. Of all the teams that have been on the same timetable as us, none have a 1C, 2C, 1D, 1G and 3-4 real good wingers. We also have another 5+ prospects that legit have a chance at being regulars with the team.

We also have 60+ cap coming off the books over the next two seasons.

It often baffles me how short sighted and reactionary some people are regarding our team. Nuances regarding the rebuild are ignored and there's this perpetual "grass is greener on the other side" idea that somehow tanking and stacking up top 3 picks will magically build a cup winning team. But glad majority of fans (at least on this board) are opposing that non sense, especially the poster earlier who laid out the facts regarding the rebuilds of teams like Chicago, Florida and Colorado. I'm not even going to get into whatever Buffalo, Edmonton and Arizona have been doing all these years. It also doesn't help that we have the most toxic media in the entire NHL. Completely agree with this post and glad there is a more reasonable outlook on things among a larger portion of fans now.

February felt like we were playing decent hockey but yeah a little snakebitten for goals and just some plain bad luck.

We’ve sure dug ourselves into a hole but nice to see them trying to claw their way back into the playoff picture.

That start to the year was brutal and then a prolonged stretch of playing better but not getting the results.

I feel a little guilty for it but I was starting to question what happened to our group from the summer.

ilduce your not the only one for sure - some just were a little too quick passing judgement which is ok too.   No matter what happens the rest of the season, this group learned a valuable lesson together - built some character even, yes by losing that way and being "a team like that ".     Have to give them a lot of credit for turning it around - almost happened right when Bieksa called them out - TO game where we played much better then them but 11 seconds and two goals later ended up losing a game we deserved to win.   After that the majority of the games we were the better team, sometimes marginally but for sure, other times by quite a bit - but the wins still didn't come.   They stuck with it and have been rewarded for sure - game was evenly played last night overall, Demko and Price were both trying to "steal" the win.   Love that we've had late third periods now that have reflected on the scoreboard, more so then a couple games we lost the lead and regained it ....

Quinn will never be great on defensive side of game.

He reminds me of Paul Coffey his Oilers days.. imagine a guy like Scotty Bowman having Quinn on his team. He had Coffey in Pitsburgh.. Bowman couldn't stand Coffey's one dimensional play.

Reminds me a lot more of Housley minus the goal scoring abilities (yet).  Coffey defense was much much better.   He owns toughness with offense records too - like Gordie Howe hat tricks for a defenseman, the closest comp i can see since he retired would have been EK in his prime, both guys had the ability to put the entire team on their backs and have massive impacts on both sides of the ice.   Possession stats didn't exist back then - but if they ever do a reverse on it i'd be shocked not to find Coffey and Borque routinely at the top of the pile.    Coffey is the closest thing the league has seen to Orr since he was making his other level legacy.   Coffey also was another level player - did it on every team he played with - and one his last Norris 14 or so seasons in...and a Hart runner up to boot.   Coffey was the only man back on a 2-1 that could have been the difference of the famous, best collection of talent the world has ever seen, 87 Canada cup .... made a great play to break it up as well as started the play that won Canada the series.    Sure he was no Langway or Robinson or even  Borque - but the latter he was very close too.    I'd take him before almost any other NHL d all-time on my team.

It's yet to be determined if QHs is much more then a  defensively decent second- third pairing D , and special PP specialist on a deeper team...but i'm hopeful in 30 years if i'm still around, can make comparisons against QHs - the HHOF Canuck cup winning player - who owns virtually all our club records point wise.

On Bowman...won a cup with PIT didn't he?  And sources please - i don't remember reading anything at all about that.   Seems made up.   The spat was with Bowman in Detroit ... Coffey's teams did really well...went to the final with all his teams except his brief reunion with LA - where he was their leading scorer in their first round exit.   Went to the finals with Detroit, went to the finals with PHI - all when he was closing out his career....QHs does half of that and he's got a decent shot at the HHOF.

If he can learn the defensive side of the game at a Stecher level, that'll be good enough for me. Maybe we try him at F for a game?

People, please read this, as I did get some comments regarding my negativetivism

I love the Canucks and I am glad we won

But if you are just grateful we won, ok I get that, but take a look at how a top 10 team plays, how they hussle, how their passes are crisp and hard, and yet are still received, all the while the receiver is skating hard north and south.

Take a look at the physical play, and how hard they are hitting, and the commitment that goes into every hit. This is what it will take to be a contender. When I watch these games, of the contenders, they have 12 Millers and Hoglanders.

We are not just there yet, and it is not all about talent, but drive and commitment, as well.

When I said we played terrible, it was because we did. The passes were sloppy, the positioning was terrible, and we were lucky we were playing another team, that did not play any better.

In saying all that, we hit 3 cross bars or posts, and scored a pretty goal, so it was good we won. We did play good defensively, so I should acknowledge that as well. And Demko is showing why Benning made the decision he made, and I am happy with that as well.(out goaltended Price, that is not easy to do!)

Remember, I love my Canucks, but I know they can give better, and I expect it............

Devron made comment that the stats were even, but I want us to have more HITS than them, more TKA's than them, and more Shots than them.....not just even

Like I said, they did not play any better

I will put it this way..........2 hockey players fight, but it looks like they are slapping each other, well yes it was even............but it looked bloody terrible

That is what I am saying............

Cheers! I will take the win!

Good critic! Most of the team did not play well. To be positive I will say that Virtanen continued his stronger play. Actually thought Rous was a tad better. The team standouts IMHO were Hamonic and Demko. Really loving Hamonic's game. Blocks something like 5 shots but I was truly impressed with his aggressive play infront of the Van net. He gives no quarter and Van needs this in a big way. Hamonic and Meyers are leading the club in this area.

I cannot agree with any players staying on the ice for + 2 minutes shifts. 45-60 seconds max. Hughes does this on a regular basis so how is he being coached?

Gaudette and Boeser were on tonight

What a sequence in OT by Boeser.  He's a different player this year..

Beast

He's more experienced, his skating has improved and... healthy. He's playing amazingly well.

Yeah the local media (especially, the pundits in 650), likes painting a picture of perpetual mediocrity with the team (dabbled listening to them a few times since the closure of 1040 and I stopped cause too much negativity with the pundits).  Also, I would prefer to see more x players during the intermissions but for the most part I just change the channel once the announcement of the guest(s) are done.

Yeah, the Bieksa call out seemed to had hurt a few egos in the team (including the staff) for the right reason.

I thought both Gaydette and Jake had solid games.

The team is finally starting to play with the structure that the coaching staff preaches. Demko is rounding out his game and really looking like a number one guy.

Podkolzin is coming

I love the sentiment that Demko's got the net and he owns it but I would be really worried about him burning out like Markstrom when Calgary rode him hard at the start of the season. Let's make sure our guy is getting rest so he can continue to win games for us. Have to find a balance between riding the hot hand and giving him rest and letting Holtby keep us in games. Hopefully when Petty comes back we should be able to score a bit more to get goal support for our net minders.
