Jesus, Petey's injury went from a couple of days to going on the IR.

Pretty sure that’s just for roster purposes.

I don’t think it necessarily indicates anything.

Literally happens all the time on every team. Teams tend to try and not leak too much information on injuries.

Yep. And, going on IR in this case is retroactive and is a paper exercise/ requirement. Has to be on for a minimum of 7 days. You wouldn’t want to put him on Day 1 in case he was ready to return Day 5 because he wouldn’t t be able to. Happens all the time. Sure will be nice to get him back though. Hopefully Motte is in soon. Really miss his passion, energy and hitting.

Player to look out for is Batherson!

Hoping we can continue our success against Ottawa, even without Petey.

Is it weird that I wanna call this a big game?  I’ve kind of dropped all expectations around this season at least playoff wise... but this feels like it could be a big game.

Gotta love it:

CDC when we play a team (Leafs, Sens) coming off a (1) back to back:   "They're coming off a back to back", "They're tired", "Gotta take advantage of a tired team" "Should beat them, no excuses", "if they weren't tired they would've won".

CDC Feb. 8 after the Canucks had:  4 back to backs in 4 weeks; 16 games in 27 days; 10 days off (6 of which spent travelling) = 4 days of rest in 27 days:  "Doesn't matter", "who cares?", "whatever", "excuses", pro athletes shouldn't get tired", "lame", "worst".

Also to be noted:  teams just now enduring the horrible scheduling have had time to acclimatize and are in "game shape".  Some getting some good footing and leads to buffer with.

When the Canucks trudged through hell it was right from the start/out of the gates.  A very limited conditioning stint then GO.  With new players to adjust to.

Oh, the ironing

So, the question is- why Canucks' management agreed to this schedule? Can a team work with NHL schedulers to adjust/improve a schedule? Because, a game should be played on an even, fair field, otherwise this is not a sport.

I wouldn't take much notice except this team has a history of problems with its own doctor's medical diagnosis.

they don't really get to agree to it. They can make comments and suggestions, but it comes down to the league to decide. This year is different with the only in-division format and trying to play multiple games in a city, etc. Also, with 7 teams, it makes it a bit more difficult as not all team can play on the same night

During a normal season, it is also complicated by travel and building availability - those shared with the NBA can be especially challenging,

Travis Green: Its not serious he should be back in a day or two.

Travis Green: He should be back next week

Currently he is missing another week and not on this road trip. I mean what is his problem why can't Travis let everybody know whats wrong give exact answer to when he is back or is the medical staff inept and can't diagnose and give a update on injuries properly,

This isn't anything unusual...for coaches to keep their cards close to their chests.

You don't want to give the opponents information that helps them prepare.  The people who need to know know.

Oh, the ironing

A huge disadvantage to start a whacky season already, with no real training camp or exhibition games, to start with so many games and many back to back. With a big roster turn over.  It was like old school nhl, and players had to play themselves into shape.

And no, its not even the same as another team having to catch up later.  Because you are right, those teams are now in game shape, and can handle the extra minutes now much better.

Also, you'd think a team would rather have games in hand against division rivals in the last half.  If they needed to catch up to another team, they'd have that cushion, and you'd think mentally, that would be easier to manage, than living on the hope of other teams having struggles.

Why cant travis reveal every weakness on our players to the media. Maybe he can go over our systems next and how to defend against them.

Take us to the dressing room in between periods and drone Petey's house to check up on him.. we demand it!

All I will say about the condensed schedule is, most if not all teams will have to deal with it this season and I would much rather have gotten it out of the way early like the Canucks did VS having numerous back to backs and 3 games in 4 nights to end the shortened season.

And why exactly is that?
