Agree.  We are very lucky to have a practical and logical person navigating us through this like Dr. Bonny.  Imagine having a guy like those premiers from Alberta or Ontario?

R u serious?

the girl is the queen of double standards. Zero logic

What would you change?

Everything open and function normally. You know how many people outside of long term care homes have died from it in Canada? Just over two hundred. A lot of fear mongering going on here and it’s working. People are so afraid of this that they will never be the same again about going out in public. The only thing that should be getting focused on is the long term care homes. Everything else should be up and running and surviving.

OK, thanks for answering.  I guess we won't make this the COVID thread, but I personally agree with none of this.

But do appreciate the honest answer.

This is a covid thread Deb.

It's the reason that we are discussing when and how many fans are at the games.

Damn, I guess you're right.  I was treating it more like THE BOYS (& girls) ARE BACK IN TOWN exciting hockey news threads than one of "those" covid threads.

This is how I feel....after I'm vaccinated for sure.  And, even then, I'll likely keep my CANUCKS mask on for some time.  I imagine, at least initially, things'll be spread out a bit.  But the idea of being packed in a stadium is a big no for me until it's deemed absolutely safe.

She definitely isn't an easy nut to crack but I like that...I'd rather have someone who's proactive than lax in all of this.  I feel she's done a great job for the most part.  Not perfect, but has navigated this pretty well.

I am a big Bonnie Henry fan, but i tell my wife every time we catch her on the news, not only does she make sense, but she is perfect to fall asleep to. Often those afternoon updates lead strait into pregame nap time for me, haha.

As for masks: I think I am very firmly with the Japanese of the last several decades now in that I will be wearing a mask in public for the rest of my life. Not like walking down the street, but at a packed arena? YUP. It is now firmly part of my culture. haha.

Funny...my daughter traveled to Japan recently (not long before COVID hit) and said the same thing.  To just make it a thing now.  I agree.

my nephew did his grade 12 year over there and loved it, he was mask friendly before covid was even a twinkle in some bats eye.

It's such a good idea.  I honestly freak out now when I hear someone coughing and I don't know that I'll ever be ok with it again.  I have a great "collection" of masks and I intend on keeping them.

(Daughter's studying Japanese right now in school...she's in love with Japan...her favourite place.  Well, there and Australia).

^ I am army trained at a lot of things, and sewing is one of them. I made my own triple ply masks with my wifes machine when i heard the Jump Company of the Canadian Armed Forces was doing their own at work too. check this out! For those that think masks aren't 'manly' or what not.

I was lucky....my neighbour's mother in law made us a bunch, too.  3 ply with a filter pocket.  I also bought 4 boxes of disposables (for me and the fam).  Bought the Canucks "set" at Sportchek.  A few for charity.

My workplace just reimbursed us for mask purchases...so went and bought more.  I'm well stocked and think of them as a new "accessory", that's all.  You get used to wearing one pretty quickly and it's really not that big of a deal.  Not sure why people find it such an issue.

don't forget the official stat - is that 31% of people that catch Covid have some form of Severe Long Term effects - that includes all age categories.

Do you have a link to the official stat?

Enjoy that. I can't wait to not wear a dust mask unless I'm in an area with a lot of dust.

I can't wait for all the people who choose to wear masks to make it a social justice brigade against us who choose to live normally after this, and all of you know its coming.

As with the good folks in Tokyo for decades, I think after we are all vaccinated, or like a very large majority of us at least, in the post-covid world, you will just see people going about their business, some with masks, and some not. My families business places will likely insist on them for in person patronage, similar to the no shirt, no shoes, no service signs that we are all familiar with and don't argue about. Other business owners likely will not keep so strict a rule, but I am sure it will be very peaceful and free to choose by those in charge. Parents, owners, individuals, et cetera.

I hope so. From what I've seen in the past year I think there will be a fair share of Karen's screeching conformity to keep wearing masks. Don't forget this was a response to the biggest worldwide health emergency most of us have and will ever see. To each their own I guess. I personally won't patron businesses that try to enforce masks when this is over.

I was under the impression that mask wearing in Japan was more of a social courtesy for anyone feeling sick, to prevent mass spread of every simple cold and flu... in the most overpopulated country in the world.

Not really a valid comparison, but whatever fits the narrative, right?

When this is over it'll be up to everyone to decide...I'm expecting most won't wear masks and will live normally.  I plan on it, just will take time to fully trust that this is, in fact, "over".    And my Canucks masks will just be showing my support for my team, that's all.  I kinda like them.
