Dammmmmmmmmn you Gurrrrrrrrrrrrrrn !!! Just when I was having a nice delusion.  Alright 9 points and 4.5 games it is!    :canucks:   :towel:

@gurn Hopefully they falter just a bit. Any closer and it puts the pressure on them which is why it's a shame we aren't playing at the same time. They will be 4 games ahead by Saturday. If we can be 12 points back with 4 games in hand ...

I didn't mean to quote myself lol. New website/user error.

I hope the "journalists" that are there do their jobs for once.

Sports media in this town like talking behind people's back more.  Never to management's face with questions that the fans want them to ask.  They can badmouth them better than a veteran CDC franchise member when on air. But as soon as Benning is in front of them they treat him like royalty. I don't know if its the "ah shucks" down home personality of Benning that influences them.  Don't want to come off as badgering such a golly-gee nice guy?  I don't know. But I want someone sometime to hold his cockadoodle feet to the fire for once.

I can't wait for the regulars to take whatever JB says and turn it all around and go to great lengths to portray him as an idiot because of it.

They are supposed to hold his feet to the fire while he and the team doctor addresses the media about the Covid outbreak? Man you guys are so predictable.

That was a good news conference. It sounds like most of the players are over the worst and recovering. It looks like enough players are healthy enough they want to see when they can start training and practicing again. That's great news.

JB also said a lot of things that made sense. One thing I forgot in my 400 word essay before  is that we are going to be really young/green up front and in general once Sutter, Beagle, Roussel, and sweet Loui are gone.

The Habs have a harder schedule opponent-wise compared to us. If they end up having the final 4 of our games against the flames like rumoured those might be pretty easy wins considering the flames will be mentally checked out since they are pretty much toast.

Assuming everyone recovers, having a healthy Petey, Sutter, Pearson, is a big plus. Hopefully, the league who already screwed us to start the season extends our schedule and allows the team to carry an extended taxi squad considering all the games the teams gonna play in a short time.

And we may even get Podz.

But it might get Hoglander the Calder if he has multiple points games.   There are more than just standings at stake - several players' bonuses ( games played, individual stats ranking, etc) are also in the equation

I get what you're saying as far as player bonuses, but Hoglander is not going to win the Calder over Ty Smith or Kaprizov.

Jesus murphy.... this is ridiculous.

If teams wanted Pearson that badly... how the hell do we not send him out and then replace him.  Get a decent pick that you could flip to offload a bad contract and get double the cap freedom from that.

I was giving Benning until last offseason to show that he could extricate himself from the mess he had made in the cap allocation and bad signings.  He failed in clearing cap last offseason, and we lost two really efficient contracts in Stecher and Toffoli.  I feel bad for Pearson getting all this venom about the signing, but as with every other signing it is a million dollars too much and a year too long.  Each in isolation is not great, but in combination they have resulted in one of the worst teams in the league while also being strapped for cap space.

We didn't lose Stech he was replaced by Hamonic. TT was traded pre-pandemic. TT was a victim of the cap not going up the expected 5-8 million. Beagle likely being done makes Pearsons contract a wash and who knows what happens with Rousell, LE and Holtby. The first 2 if need be can be moved based on what it cost the Rangers to move stall @6 million it will cost a 2nd, Holtby bought out is an option that saves 4 million.

People really need to see what the roster looks like after the off-season before getting all worked up.

You get that JB is the GM of a hockey team and not the leader of the free world right?  Step back from the ledge

Asking sports reporters to do their job asking hockey team questions to a hockey team GM that fans want to hear answered = thinking he is the "leader of the free world"?

Wow. Thats some stretch there Armstrong
