Well, Highmore can actually play center in the NHL, something which Gaudette mightily struggled.

 

Benning has a plan for the bottom 6 and I for one am willing to sit back and see what it is before I crap on it.

He's already alluded to the fact that the secondary scoring from vets was a mistake, and that they are moving to fix it.

 

I expect an uptempo brand of hockey from this guy.

I've decided not to pass judgement on Highmore until I see him play.

 

That being said I think people are upset because they see the potential in Gaudette, he was a 5th round pick, a Hoby Baker winner, and was dominant in his last year of college. It hasn't translated into top tier NHL performance but the potential is there.
