[Waivers] Drake Caggiula

Less interesting to me.  There are "project" players who have been with a single organization that you can convince yourself just need a fresh start with a new coach and systems.

Once a guy has had a few stops and doesn't work out, then you have to think the remaining variable is the player himself.

He had his chance to play with BB in 2016 and chose to sign with the Oilers instead. How much hockey sense can he have, right?

As much as we all love Brock if you give a guy a choice between playing with Boeser or McDavid I have to think 9.5/10 are going to pick Connor.

Haven't watched Drake in ARZ this season but he reminds me of Nils H a bit-undersized player that can score and has some tenacity to his game.  I guess he's in that Gaudette/Virtanen territory where no one's knows if they'll take off or not.  I wouldn't be against aquiring him if he can get it going.  Maybe just needs to find some chemistry with good ol BB again?

but where is is going to help us? we need more size and skill on our bottom 6... he's not that guy. He's thankfully not a fit on the top 6. I just don't see a place for another small winger project who doesn't bring the size+skill element out bottom 6 really lacks right now.

Edmonton still thinks they are in on Taylor Hall so I don’t see them using up cap space via the waiver wire in the short term.

Sorry AG, I meant to quote Roger.

Doesn't everyone complain about the Canucks not having enough value contracts?  If Drake can get it going he can be a 15-20 goal scorer which is what the Canucks wanted in Gaudette or Virtanen.  If he can't get it going, it's a manageable contract to waive.  He's not a 4th liner.  He's a third liner that can MAYBE fill in the top 6 or play PP mins.  Again, all dependent if he can find chemistry and get it going.  Not even a Canuck yet so all smooth point.

I guess if he had actually impressed elsewhere, but I think we'd be hoping he's that hotshot kid coming out of college, which he's never been. Dunno, hard pass for me but otoh its not like is a huge commitment. Just don't see the fit.

I can see us taking a flyer on Drake Caggiula. There is the North Dakota - BB connection, and perhaps this is a good time to see how well he gels with the team on a tweener 3rd line (maybe 2nd line) assignment.

His unearthed value could help with the decision on who to expose at the Expansion Draft. Not to mention, a healthy body to get into our line-up if the league wants us to continue the season.
