Damn, Foligno is basically Captain Blue Jackets. He's the closest equivalenty they've had in their franchise to a Trevor Linden or Wendel Clark or Ryan Smyth. I wouldn't be surprised if he re-signs with CBJ after that.

  • -Vintage Canuck- changed the title to [3-Way Trade] Maple Leafs acquire Nick Folingo, Stefan Noesen; Blue Jackets acquire 2021 1st-round pick (TOR), 2022 4th-round pick (TOR); Sharks acquire 2021 4th-round pick (TOR)

Well some owners are willing to spend a little jingle to buy 4th round picks.

it is a pretty iffy lottery ticket though, a 3rd has a pretty decent chance of becoming an NHLer... once you get to a late 4th, that is just a long shot.

On the other hand, those kind of picks might be exactly what is used as currency to pick up players who can’t be protected in expansion.

Another smart 3 way move to dump cap so he's basically free for Toronto but costs them a 1st and 4th - way too much for Foligno. Yes, he plays big minutes in Columbus but his offence has dried right up.

Toronto overpays but they need a guy like him to anchor their depth/bottom 6 forwards.

pretty useful veteran for that price, that's a nice deal for Doobie.

But thats also a lot to pay for a 4th round pick. The Sharts must have lowballed Yzerman on this one.
