I can only think of two players in the history of this team that were given up too early. I've been here since they joined the NHL as well. Cam Neely and to a certain extent Michael Grabner. Honourable mention Mike Peca, but his career was shortened by injury. Would he have been concussed here or elsewhere?

Getting more defence in did make some sense tho, out of that group at the time Grabner was expendable for offence, so not really a dump like AG.

How can you say that? I think the team loved Gaudette. I know I did, loved his energy he had

a knack for scoring well timed goals. What wasnt to love about Gaudette?

Benning:

With Adam Gaudette, with him we just felt it was time for a change of scenery”

“we were expecting him to come in and take another step. We didn’t really feel like he did that”

we just felt like Matthew Highmore plays a more complete two-way game”

These quotes from Benning don’t sound like they loved the way Gaudette was developing.

You could tell by Bennings body language and the tone in his voice, he was done with Guadette, no matter the real reason.

There’s been many people suggesting that the Canucks pay waaaaay too much for their 3 and 4 lines. Now we have a fourth line potentially consisting of Motte, Hawyrluk, MacEwan, Highmore, and Boyd. Motte makes the most at $1.225.

Sutter comes off the books this summer, and Beagle, according to some rumours, may be done. In my opinion, buy out Roussel (would that be $633,333 cap hit for 2 years?), and you have a brand new bottom 6. I think Bennings thinking is Highmore is a potential replacement to Beagle, at a 1/4 the price.

We are witnessing the beginning of the revamping of the 3 and 4 lines, at a cheaper price.

It is also looking like we are going to have some changes on D as well.

Benning  on Highmore” we think given the right opportunity he can score more” (Well he couldn’t  score any less  at any level)

so does that mean he won’t burried on a third line with sutter and AR who’ve combined for 5 points and then come out to the media and throw him under the bus like you just did with gaudette.

benning is next level stupid not only should he not be an nhl GM he shouldn’t be allowed to do any unscripted media events ever.

Winner - Gaudette getting away from the worst GM and his AHL coach.

loser- canuck fans  because of the  usual Jim the total idiot Benning stupidity.

BINGO!     WELL SAID!

On paper this new guy does not seem half the player Gaudette was.   Even though Gaudette was a 3/4th line player he was exciting to watch and really tried hard all the time and was not a Lazy good for nothing, useless, floating cork like L.E. or lazy Jake.  So I suspect there's more to this trade than we're being told  because even J.B. isn't that dumb to make this trade.
