Killorn would be an idiot to refuse a trade to Detroit, especially if Tampa wins another cup this year.

Killorn will receive better minutes in Detroit and although he's on the older end Detroit can trade him for additional assets in two years. If they're good enough, they can use him for a playoff run. They won't be good enough and I suspect they land one of the good young forward in the 2022 draft.

Players usually covet a winning environment and/or a great place to live. Detroit will be neither for Killorn. He is not a idiot.

Yup, they are having quite the ride.

Even without Miller they have 8 forwards making more than $4.5M and two of them make $8.5M or more. By comparison, the Canucks top paid forward is Eriksson (yuk) at $6M and we only have a total of 4 forwards making $4.5M or more. Long way of saying, yup, they are pretty deep at forward.

And even with that, they can still have a goalie making $9.5M.

And Hedman, McDonagh making bank too.     Add to the fact that any of the contracts they signed have the 10-15% cap discount compared to their peers at the time ... plus Kucherov.   Wilson said when he signed Karlson "if you don't have cap promblems, your not trying hard enough as a GM"...  what TB doesn't have, is 12 million plus tied up in LE, Bear and Luongo... that's two more players for in the Schmidt or Myers range, or three 4.5ish guys.    That's Tanev and TT plus one more guy we could have, so get any fan that is frustrated over this.    TB/Vegas/Miami/Dallas and soon the be Seattle all have no state tax or jock tax.    Makes it easier to sign "team friendly" deal.      Have to give TB GM's a lot of credit, they for sure have tried extra hard to maximize that advantage.

They also keep hitting on their draft picks.    They IMO, could end up like the modern day Detroit team that went on an admirable run from 93-2015 ish.   They have the bones to keep this going for another five years with the current core, and the troops coming up behind them as well.   Since Hedman and Stamkos were drafted they have already been contenders twice (they had a window with St. Louis's vet players when they came in too, we almost played them instead in 2011, and wish we did...they were the better team, Thomas stood on his head)... yes they had a couple done years since ...but i'm sure their run of playoff's is far from over.    And the young players coming up will have a chance with what's coming up behind them once Stamkos and Hedman are done with Kucherov and Point still.   Have a little cap envy for sure.

Forget Tampa, we’re not getting Cernak or Foote pretty much guaranteed. They will go 4-4-1 and then dump Johnson and palat in the offseason. Their situation isn’t as bad as everyone says. All their cap dumps are still good players.

Should look at the canes or Colorado or Anaheim or Pittsburg or Florida.

Rathbone and woo are very valuable trade chips in this instance due to their ED exemption status. A team can trade away a defensemen without totally giving up their depth in the position

They will either pay to get a player taken away, or do another JT Miller like trade and acquire something for later.    Paying is easy for them because they will get something for someone too, so yes the process won't be too difficult, but they will have to trade one or two valuable guys as well, just like CHI had to do three times during their cup years.   Bolland, Saad,  Byfuglien etc etc ...
