It's so easy to skew things to suit a narrative. Here, let's do the reverse:

Weber, Drouin, Danault, Byron, Lehkonen, Edmondson, Staal, Chariot, Kulak and Gustafsson

26 G

$34.2 M

Boeser and Pettersson

27 G

$6.8 M

And Pettersson has missed half the season...

So Montreal could have re-signed Petterssen and Boeser as UFA but kept all those players instead?

Cool story bro.

The point is fair. A guy who Van easily could have retained that wanted to be here is outperforming all those bad contracts Benning chose to hanv onto or re-sign instead.

I don’t think that he wanted to hang on to Louie. He just had no choice.

Montreal will have a much worst cap situation then us in the future. They have some terrible contracts on their books.

I can’t wait for the game now. If we lose, we lose... let’s see what they got!

What's worse is I'm talking regular scooters with 49cc engines. (Like Vespas)

The e-scooters and e-bikes are becoming dangerous too.

I drive a 5000 lbs vehicle... I worry about what that will do to one of these idiots downtown. Its no bs, nearly every day when we were living close to downtown, if I wasn't watching for some clown doing the wrong thing, he'd be in the orthopaedic OR.

I blame Gregor Robertson, he created one of the dumbest bike lane systems on the planet, its designed to kill people.

Yay for Kole Lind's first game.

Boo if OJ comes out.

I must be the only one to not find anything special about Chatfield.

No i dont see anything special with him either tbh. He is pretty shaky defensively and positionally. Plays more like a rover than he should. Would rather see what Rathbone can do.

You’re not the only one...

But I have a lot of time for Chatfield. He’s fast and will lay the lumber on the opposition. He reminds me a lot of Alex Biega.

Probably in both cases but point 1 shows just how costly the cumulative contract mistakes of Benning have been and point 2 really depends on if Benning keeps compounding them with more bad contracts.

No guarantee he doesnt tbh.

Last summer was the beginning of us not having to sign free agents anymore and looking within the organization for replacements.

3 years from now we might be looking at Marky’s contract as an albatross and Tanev might be going back to being hurt 70% of the season again and glad that he didn’t resign those two. Tofu will always sting because he’s not that old to age poorly through his 4 year contract.

I’m actually okay with a new GM if we find a good one. Who’s out there that had experience though? It would have to be an assistant GM getting promoted.

Honestly I dont see the Canucks having enough ready prospects to fill all the holes and I dont think Benning is the type of GM who can resist signing expensive middling UFA players.

I think there are a lot of good candidates out there for GM. Doesnt necessarily have to be another rookie GM. Jim Rutherford is available. Not sure if he is a fit, just one example of an experienced guy thats out there.
