Right out of Wikipedia.

Sexual Misconduct isn't a legal term per say but it is what you will often hear the police or media say. The police will often use it because they understand that labeling allegations as Assault or Abuse holds specific connotation. The police will often hold those terms back till charges are actually laid.

a "lawyer" that references wikipedia instead of actual law books lol

Innocent till proven guilty

This is clearly a case of she says he says. You heard one side of the story. And already judge and convicted him.

He has a side as well. But because he is a public figure his Lawyer is telling to have no comments. That doesn't make him guilty it makes him smart for following his legal advice.

Second his comments even if it is a denial will never go well in public so as a Lawyer I would tell him to keep his mouth shut.

Everything you post is so incredibly obvious that I don’t believe you’re actually serious.

Are you serious, are your posts satire?

I feel horrible for the victim, but I also feel bad for Virtanen. Bad situation all around.

From what I can tell, she is accusing him of sexual assault, not rape. I mention this because there are a lot more gray areas to sexual assault. He may not be charged, even if what he did was inappropriate.

I commend her for coming out, because it takes a lot of courage. Hopefully he learns from this, and this is not the last we see of Virtanen as a Canuck

There is no “charge” of rape in Canada, it is sexual assault... so I am not sure what you are talking about with how it would impact any charges/convictions.  Sexual assault isn’t just  “inappropriate”

If it is the same complaint as the one on Twitter, she is absolutely saying he raped her.

Are you saying you’re a human adult, you read that the victim many times said they did not want sex, and knowing that the victim eventually and unwillingly was made to have sex...

...that that isn’t rape?

I just wanna be clear on what you’re saying here. You’re giving me vibes of those aliens from the simpsons that try and pass off as humans to comedic effect because they don’t actually know how to be humans.

This scandal will be the end of JB and therefore Green and the coaching staff will not be brought back either.

The Aquilini family has a multi billion dollar empire and they want nothing to do with this type of scandal. JB is implicated by association alone and that unfortunately is going to be enough for his tenure to end.

Regardless of how it plays out it will be a stain for months to come and it will be enough is enough time in AQ's mind.

Haha

But seriously if I was a defense attorney I would tell him I don't want to know if he did it I would so pressure him to deny it even if he did it my morals are not like others. I believe an accuser should have undeniable prove other wise shut up keep it to yourself.

But that is because guilty means something to me. If someone is going to get convicted they better have done something wrong. Rape is wrong. This story is so Grey when I first read it I thought a guy wrote it it sounded like a porn plot

My 2 daughters are now in their early twenties, they’re only a year apart, at about 12 or so my wife and I discussed sex with them and one thing we always emphasized was having sex was their choice and if they were forced into it in anyway that they could come to us and we’d deal with it together as a family.  The topic of sex was never taboo in our house and although I’m sure at times all of as squirmed during discussions I think it was for the best. I am proud of who my kids have grown into.

If this is true, and it sounds like it is, I hope Virtanen never plays in the NHL again. What a wasted talent and what a tragic situation.

Good response by the Canucks to distance him from the team and to acknowledge the seriousness of the allegations and to launch an investigation right away.

I wish only the best for the young woman and all involved

The report I read was kind of vague, probably due to the sensitive topic, so I did not really know what the alleged "sexual misconduct" entailed.
The criminal code defines sexual assault as "any unwanted sexual act done by one person to another without one person's consent or voluntary agreement." That's pretty broad, and could mean many different things. I thought that if it was rape then it would explicitly say 'Virtanen accused of rape.' I realize that rape falls under sexual assault, but I did not know that there wasn't a distinction made as far as what the charge is. Sorry if I appeared insensitive or out of touch. But keep in mind that the authorities are still collecting facts as to what really happened.

It is uncomfortable but not doing it is more dangerous, we googled advice on how to talk to kids about sex and made a lot of notes on stuff to cover and key points to say and created and agenda to work through, I believe we talked for we over an hour the first time. After that I know my daughters were very open asking questions, mostly to my wife but sometimes to me.

Sorry, I thought he may have just molested her or made unwanted advances. This is a sensitive topic and I don't think it's helpful to make Simpsons references.
You don't have to be a total dick about it.
