Gurn
I'm hoping there are now enough teams out west to keep most of the practice days the team had in Utica. The team had liked the lower travel, extra practice days so please be almost the same.
Popular Post Comet Fan 0727
I just want to say this to the fans of the Vancouver Canucks. It has been a fun and adventure filled 8 years cheering for your team. I embraced the Comets and the Canucks when it was announced that we would be getting a team. I spent a lot of late nights listening to Brandon Batchelor announce the games 3 time zones away. Lol We had quite a run year 2 going to the Calder Cup finals with Marky and Travis leading the way. good luck and I will be rooting for the Nucks 3000 miles away! 13 19 1

Now all our prospects will get ruined by over zealous fans, expecting every prospect to be gods. This is definitely the downside to having the team in the fanbase’s back yard. edit: I should clarify... there are positives as well lol. If not, could I speculate on it being the "Abbotsford Aquilinis"? morrissex95
I always liked the Comets name. They should call them the Abbotsford Comets in honor of the franchise's roots in Utica. Good luck to Robert Esche and the Utica Devils.
Provost
Pro’s and Con’s. Easier for the Canucks brass and staff to support the farm team and keep an eye on prospects. They can leverage some efficiencies by sharing some resources. We can save $1-2 million on the cap by only running with a 21 man roster most days since we can call a player up last minute a lot of times instead of carrying spares. Fans can get engaged with the prospects and the point means it more accessible for families and an opportunity to create new Canucks fans. Downside, more travel means less practice time. Vancouver Giants are going to feel the pain of this badly. Edited May 5, 2021 by Provost

Down by the River
At least with the Kraken's affiliate being in California the AHL club will get to enjoy some Palm Springs trips in February. Will they have their own team plane?

Instead of jumping from an easier schedule/travel to our not as easy one.
24K PureCool
Well guess here is our Green/new coach/new gm/president of hockey ops money.
nickp91
Have to think an AHL team in Abbotsford will have some impact on the WHL’s Vancouver Giants (Langley) and BCHL’s Chilliwack Chiefs

Popular Post tas
predictions: 1. benji and frank didn't see eye to eye on this. francesco saw a revenue stream, benning saw pissing away a better hockey situation. I have no basis for this theory aside from hunch. 2. it'll be hugely successful, at least financially, and at least for the first while. 3. it will become the cool thing to be the hockey hipster that trashes the canucks while insisting he's a better, more knowledgeable fan because he goes to ahl games to watch the prospects instead. we'll have 5000 jd burkes. 3
tas
also, nice statement from esche. cool and interesting to read the specific call out to chris gear. makes you wonder if he's next in line when benning gets the axe. edit: also, has anyone thrown aviators out there yet? it's gotta be the abbotsford aviators. Fanuck
It'll be hard to match the fan/community support that Utica has shown over the years, but I'm going to be open minded and think positively that it won't be a shiny new toy to Abby......until the shine wears off eventually..... VforVasili
I am kicking myself for not managing to make it to any Utica games, despite it being a not unreasonable drive from Ottawa.
