[Rumour] Eichel wants out of Buffalo. Says there is disconnect with organization.

And you're minus the significant assets you gave up to acquire him

yeah its a massive risk, a potential rebuild killer. Maybe it makes sense for a more mature team looking to extend its window.

I don't see why the Canucks would even be thinking about Eichel.  They have 3 top 6 centers; probably their deepest positional depth.  Eichel is not going to help the defensive need (rd) or improve the bottom 6.

Don't want this guy on the team. He's already used to the owners bending over backwards to fire the GM and Coach on his behalf. Regardless of the talent you don't want that kind of entitlement on the team.

Plus, it would likely cost one of Petey or Hughes+ to get him, not worth it.

Precisely. Nucks can also find top 6 scoring in the draft if they want to add a winger there, and it'll have the added benefit of being an ELC for 3 years. These offensive specialists (Boeser, Caufield, Pettersson, etc.) seem able to contribute in year 1 or year 2, whereas grabbing someone for the D corps often requires a few years of development. If JB is really planning on contending in 2022-2023, he's got to be thinking of fixing the biggest problem: the defensive side.

I really think a #1 D-man, and a proper 3C who can stay healthy all year is a gamechanger. Hopefully we keep Sutter too at a team friendly deal (he was on pace to score 17-20 goals over a full season), and bump him to the wing for full time duties, and to the center when we need important faceoffs won.

These 4 things turn our team into a legit contender imo:
- Top 6 winger drafted this year (prolific scorer like Guenther)
- #1 shutdown d-man like savard
- #3C like Wennberg
- Petey, Beagle, Motte, Sutter back from injury

Miller-Pettersson-Boeser
Hoglander-Bo-2021 pick
Podkolzin-Wennberg-Pearson
Motte-Beagle-Sutter

Savard-Hughes
Myers-Juolevi/Hamonic
Rathbone-Schmidt

I wonder if Eichel possibly being on his way out this year encourages the Sabres to draft Benieres?

I wonder if we'll see their pick refuse to sign, and get another Lindros type scenario. I can see a lot of prospects being very disappointed to be selected by Buffalo.

Wrong! put him with Roussel and Erickson because more money equals better players!

I am not saying we should target him, but I think people are hating on Eichel a little too much. Look what they built around him in all these years. I'd be upset too. On top of the fact they were messing around with his health. It's clear something is wrong with Buffalo, and it's deeply rooted. Buffalo might be the worst run team in the league. Even beating out Ottawa, at least they are projecting upwards. If they started the season the way they finished, they may have even made the playoffs. Buffalo is just bad, disgracefully bad. Don't blame Eichel for feeling how he feels.

40 Million over 4 years

Ties up a lot of cap room.

Especially when we do Hughes and Peties contracts.

Yea we would have to dump some serous cap and I don’t know how many 1sts and prospects we’d have to trade but can you imagine:

Pettersson Eichel Boeser

Miller Horvat Podkolzin

BUF has Middlestadt and Cozens who are Cs, maybe they take one of the big 4 D, to play with Dahlin.

Eichel would be good, I just think he's had it losing in BUF and wants out. Not sure I would call that an attitude problem. Guy wants to win, like Miller. Put Miller on his wing and watch two determined players.

Miller - Eichel - Podkolzin

Pearson (or Eklund?) - Pettersson - Hoglander

Motte - Horvat - Lind

Boeser and Roussel for Eichel ?? (I really like Boeser, but BUF will want someone good back)

lol at Motte - Horvat - Lind. What kind of line is that... I can see very low production, not too effective and an angry Horvat.
