Just read this article: https://thehockeywriters.com/flames-news-rumors-eichel-kylington-captaincy-more/ about the Flames having interest. What struck me was the asking price being so high. I mean, is it realistic at this point that Buffalo can still be asking what they are? Does anybody here still think Sabres are getting the equivalent of four 1st rounders, as mentioned? It seems absurd.

Yup, no way the Canucks will give up first rounders Luke Schenn (5th overall), Brandon Sutter (11th overall), Tanner Pearson (30th overall), and Olli Juolevi (5th overall) for Jack Eichel. :P

This is from the article mentioned:

I can see Kevyn Adams getting fired to facilitate a trade.

That is probably a good thing.

I think the most sensible thing to do is to tag on lots of conditional picks depending on Eichel's future health:

- Conditional 2022 1st round pick to Buffalo if Eichel plays at least 41 games this season

- Conditional 2023 1st round pick to Buffalo if Eichel plays at least 82 games in 2 seasons

- Conditional 2024 2nd round pick to Buffalo if Eichel plays at least 123 games in 3 seasons

This is a super mess Buffalo won’t get full value back for.

They want way too much for a literal and figurative headache, attached to a high salary.

Fair value may be T6F, T4D, prospect, 1st rounder, especially if they don’t want to retain any salary. Then they’re probably getting a T6F & a T4D with high prices attached, like $5.000MIL+ ea.

Buffalo and Eichel are both handling this terribly.

I liken to this experience back to when I was at the sky train station at water front, and saw a guy and a girl ugly drunk break up with each other in public. It was loud, unnecessary, awkward, yet the most entertaining thing that you just couldn't look away.

not a fan of Eichel - but that pathetic poor-us performance from Murray - from the get-go - when Buffalo had to settle for Eichel in the McDavid lottery sweepstakes - pretty much set the tone for the loser show that has ensued ever since.

wow, I wouldn't have been surprized if Eichel never signed in Buffalo

Love the line in there: "There are 28 other GMs that would gladly trade places with Murray right now."  Yeah, not if that meant being the Sabres GM!

Every time this thread bumps up, and I see "disconnect with organization" in the title, I can't help but think that the sky is effing blue, too.  There's been a disconnect for years.

This is utterly ridiculous. Who in their right mind would hand over such a ransom for a 10 million dollar cap hit and a player with a potential career threatening or altering injury? :picard:

I wouldn’t want him for even if that asking price was cut in half. No thanks!
