Yeah. Howe and Bobby Hull were in amazing shape. I think Hull worked on the family farm in the offseason.

My Grand-Dad was a farmer I don't think he looked like this.

No wonder he could rifle the puck upwards of 117 to 120 mph, with a wooden stick.

I did. the same popular mechanics article from the 60s that made that 118.3 mph measurement also clocked a jean beliveau wrist shot at 105 mph.

 

in other words, either their methodology was drastically different than how they measure shots now, or miles have somehow changed as a unit of measure over the years. 

 

don't believe everything you hear.
