Because rankings are always right.

There will be a franchise defenseman there just like almost every year.

We won’t get a chance to find out though.

Good point, who knew Chabot would be a franchise d in that draft.

well we are below them in the standing so we are worse

And the point is?  You were implying Calgary was throwing the game.  If you watched them play all season you would know that a collapse is nothing unusual for Calgary.

I prefer guys like HighonHockey and other more dedicated scouts, like this:

Ceulemans’ upside is incredibly high, which prompted Craig Button to claim before the AJHL season began, “I have no doubt he’s a top-10 player — none whatsoever in my mind — in the draft. And I don’t care if he plays another game. I’ve had the benefit of watching him play for a number of years, and I think he’s that good.” (from ‘Corson Ceulemans is bringing his top-10 NHL draft potential to the Badgers hockey team’, Wisconsin State Journal – 7/01/21)

We are set to pick 7 to 10.  No other possibilities.

Ceulemans will likely be available and probably one or two of the other guys that everyone loves.

It's not the end of the world especially in a year where scouting has been limited by kids playing limited games.

We will get a great player no doubt about it. I don't want to hear any more bitching and whining.  We will get a great player at 7 to 10 and absolutely could be one of the top players in the whole damn thing in a year where kids have not been able to play any where near a full season to be scouted.

Right. How many times have fans said that its important to win these games for next year? Its a dumb statement because it has never really brought momentum going into the next year. This has happened over and over and fans come in and always say its important going into next year. Players shouldnt be going into next year saying hey remember when we beat the flames at the end of the year. We were so good. I don't get that thinking and when has it ever made a difference?

Pretty sure, at this point, Travis Green is trying to win so he can get a contact with another team. And 2 of the players that scored are pending UFAs and won't likely be in the team next season and same goes for Vesey

So that's 3 goals caused by players who probably won't be a Canuck next season

No, your words.

But that's what I thought...people "hear" others and then they glom on.  But have no idea.

Thanks for confirming that for me.

Does it look like Im willing to write you a 10 page essay on why I want XYZ... I will admit this much though, I get hyped on what I see on tv ranking shows. I aint a scout and NEITHER ARE YOU (unless im wrong). I aint gonna spend my daytime researching on players and not getting paid for it.

For me, its all about getting the highest pick possible. Look at the 2018 draft... If we got a few more points, Hughes may have been taken by CHI

Great! Own Goal Specialist,   from LE to  AE:bigblush:

As far as scoring own goals LE can't hold a candle to AE. Edler scored as many own goals as braking his stick throughout his career.

I'd be perfectly happy with Ceulemans.

Not to mention that every year there are guys taken after the 10 spot that end up being studs, and I feel that will be especially true this year. We need a guy like Mcavoy, take a guess where he was taken?

This year is so unusual, many players are underscouted, and it's not a clear consensus as far as tiers. I think this year there's no guarantees to get the best player in the first few picks. Not sure if I'd want to pick #1, I doubt #1 will be the best in 10 years.

Power most likely than anyone else. Hughes and Clarke have that sort of promise too.

Power because of his package, not necessarily having the most upside. Edvinsson, Power, Hughes, Clarke. I can't see all of them going top 5 when you factor in Eklund, Beniers, and Wallstedt. We'll be fine at #7.

Rather have Ekblad or Hedman personally.

Yeah but those two were #1 & #2 in there respective drafts; good thing Holtby was in net and Eddie scored his 100th goal.  All kidding aside, having the opportunity to draft the best d in this draft will help make this season easier to forget.
