JB is the best GM that the Canucks have had insofar as success at the Amateur Draft is concerned.

JB is one of the worst GMs the Canucks have had insofar as evaluating pro talent...he's signed far too many UFAs who were past their expiry date to AAV and term that has handcuffed the team.  He's lost more trades than he's won (winners: acquisition of Miller and Schmidt; losers: too many to count, and let's not even start to discuss deals he's failed or was reluctant to make ).

JB is one of the worst GMs the Canucks have had insofar as ability to communicate a consistent and clear and honest message. At first, his ho-hum, folksy way of articulating his thought process was welcomed from the calculating/lawyer-speak we got from Gillis, but now, he simply sounds stupid (which is probably unfair for me to say).

It appears from the outside that he's lacking in his ability to delegate and build a functional work team around himself (unless Aquilini is pulling his strings, in which case, Benning is nothing more than a puppet and is deserving of pity).

So, let's be honest here...JB's GM career is about as accomplished as his playing career.  Started with a lot of promise...did a thing or two well...the rest, just plain awful.

I've been a staunch Benning supporter til 2-3 months ago. It's time to place Jim Benning into the position of director of amateur scouting, because that is the one thing he excels at.

I think Benning was a rookie GM who made alot of errors at the beginning of his tenure and I blame the owners for that. It was a stupid idea to hire a rookie President & GM at the same time. Now I also think JB has done a better job lately and shows signs of improvement and is learning from his mistakes which unfortunately are costing us on the cap especially. If Benning remains our GM I think he will show he has improved on his weaknesses and will continue to improve our team in the future and build through the draft so as we will remain competitive for years to come

You're right...got off topic and forgot where I was.

Really looking forward to seeing Gadjovich make his NHL debut tonight.  Would love to see Gadjovich, Podkolzin, MacEwen, and eventually Keppen and McDonough be key players for the Canucks...add them to Horvat, Boeser and Miller, and now that's a good heavy team (guess I gotta give JB props if all those players on the Canucks roster together one day).

Did you really have to call me poopy pants?  No offence taken...my post was a little salty.

Now thats a refreshing reply here on CDC, thank you and yes he did call you poopy pants

Whos on calgary will wanna drop the gloves against the man child gadj. Bunch of weak losers over there gonna be too scared if u ask me.

Called it!:P

But seriously you knew this would happen first NHL game if you can't get a goal or an apple at least get your first scrap under your belt.

If he is going to stick in the show he has to keep working on his skating and strength.

If he is willing to consistently play a physical game there is Roussel's 4th line LW spot for him to grab in a year or two.

Looking forward to seeing Gadjovic.  Be nice if he could lock down the 4C.

If Danault makes it to UFA, I think Van will be heavily involved

Can we trade for Foegele? since Canes need to protect players in expansion draft

Love the kid’s energy that really shines in his interviews. Love the toughness he brings and once he’s parked in front of the net he’s a force.

But….even in his 4-something minutes of ice-time it did look like he struggled to keep up with the pace of play. Still bullish on him and wouldn’t be surprised if he makes a real push for a roster spot next year as I think we could really use an enforcer (though I think Jonah is more of a middleweight) with some offensive upside. I think he’d be excellent as a netfront presence on the 2nd unit PP.

Ohh Noes, rookie forward playing in his first NHL game looked like rookie forward playing his first game.

Bust confirmed.

This place is starting to get to me.

meh, he tried an AHL move and got burned. I'm sure he'll be better tomorrow.

Rooster became a (highly paid) turkey during his tenure with the Canucks - so sad for the team - and I wonder who will get to signed another one of JBs' very generous retirement contract - an older with no shot Edler & an injury prone Sutter ?

Yeah, he seemed anxious in his first dance and played a whopping 3+ mins of ice time.  Hopefully, he gets in & plays alot more in these last few games and gains some more game experience from actually playing in the ice.
