Diamonds
Bylsma will almost certainly be looking to get back to a head coaching gig. Honestly don't know if he would be an upgrade to Green, but an interesting name to toss around at least.

I wonder if this would fly with Green. I think Green gets one more year but I have serious doubts about Bomber and the work he's done with the defence as well I think it's common knowledge our PP needs a new direction. He's an experienced AHL coach, and he's coached some of the best in Pittsburgh. Green pales considerably in experience. That's why I'm not overly excited about keeping Green when there are clearly better options available. That being said, I am a bit worried that Yzerman and Bylsma are parting ways. Well... his success then needs to be hand in hand with the fact that Bylsma was also gifted a young Malkin, Crosby, Fleury and Letang in their primes. Sure he did amazing when he first got started and won that cup with the Pens but he also fell off quick after that. Since then, he coached (as head coach) Buffalo which is unfair to judge since they are just an awful team, but he had that major falling out with Eichel and was eventually fired because of it. I still remember that Penguins season when they added guys like Morrow and Iginla to create that "unbeatable" team but still got swept by the Bruins in the playoffs. TG has not had nearly the same amount of luxury that Bylsma had in his early years.

I'm not pumping Bylsma's tires. I just want to see fresh approaches to this team.

There is a major difference between prime near prime Crosby, Malkin, Fleury, Letang and the depth the Pens had to what Green has in Prime Bo and 20 year olds and depth that is still a work in progress all things being equal.

I think the entire management and coaching needs to be re-evaluated seriously if we want to make big strides. I personally have always wanted Gerard Gallant as the coach because of his successes and quick culture change that he seems to create for teams. I don't know why he hasn't found a job again though. Makes me wonder if perhaps there could be more going on behind the scenes with him outside of coaching that makes teams stay away from him?
