I think it speaks to seeing how the team played down the stretch. They lost a lot, yes, but they did try and they probably won more games than we thought they would (or should due to draft position). Many of the players are clearly very competitive and care a great deal about their play. The construction of the team (personnel) did not necessarily help, particularly the lack of players in the bottom 6 who could help not only support the team defensively, but offensively as well. Is coaching partly to blame for the team's shortfalls? Of course. I think Green and his coaching staff definitely have some shortcomings, but so do basically all coaching groups. I'm not necessarily an advocate for sticking with Green no matter what as I think there are always grounds for considering whether a change is warranted, but it is eye opening to hear the players support the coaches. 1

That sounds more like a participation trophy than a winning culture but maybe that's just me. I thought it had more to do with winning. I think Greeners good a good job at sorting through the garbage and giving players a chance to develop but there's not much of a winning culture in Vancouver. 1

It has to do with playing the right way so you can win. We saw nice flashes of that last bubble playoffs. We're really not that far off from being competitive again. The C situation is really key imo, do we go out and get a 3C, or try for Petey-Miller-Bo down the middle?

They simply showed up there was no heart or will to win games. They played for the pay check. Winning culture means you give your best whatever that may be. Look at Ottawa this year. Remember when many on here said after Covid and the wins against the Leafs we played Ottawa, Great a real challenge. We knew they were coming to play. They never looked at the scoreboard nor did they care what the score was.

There should be no more talk of rebuilding until Petey and Hughes are in their 30's. This wasn't a rebuilding year this was a below average roster that got no breaks at all from start to finish this year, and finished slightly worse off than they actually are. It's about finding the guy to plug in the holes to surround the key pieces with players who actually contribute. Is Jim the guy? He better be or the fire Benning chants will be loud with a packed house next season.

It will never be handed to you on a silver platter.

I do think we'll be able to push for a playoff spot next year but maybe need a year to two of experience for these guys to make a cup run. re: Jim, I've come to the conclusion that the combined job of president and GM is too much for one guy in the current NHL. He needs better people above and below him. 1 3

We have the key pieces and we have many contracts coming off the books this year and the next two. We are in the sanding and polish stage. 3
