I read a mock draft where the caption was something like “I’ve heard that NJ is definitely taking him and I’ve heard NJ is definitely not taking him.” So I think that’s the wild card. From what I can piece together, there should be better all around D men (Edvinsson?) on the board at 4 so Hughes could be a bit of a reach there. Can't think of many more that would be worth a 9th overall. Two picks later: "Vancouver Canucks pick from khl SKA st.petersberg Fedor Svechkov!" We get a mid-late 2nd as well to recoup trading our 3rd. One can dream...
