I'd definitely have to research it more. From what I gather Dahlin has really fallen off but I hear it's due to a lack of confidence more so than a lack of talent. I'd also like to see Podkolzin play at the NHL level just to see what he brings to the table because he could have some really high value but at this point I don't think I'd even do that trade straight up (but mainly out of ignorance at this point). The tricky thing is finding top 4 defensemen in this league though, and finding them young and/or cheap is really challenging. I always feel it's best to go through the drafting route for this method however I think you're right in saying that for Dahlin they'd probably be looking for Podkolzin++. He still has value and Podz is still unproven. Timing just doesn't feel right to me though before at least having a look at the player at this level.

I'm also not convinced at all that this organization can turn defenders around. I think at this level we are more adept at actually regressing our defensemen sadly with the style of play this team incorporates.

Thats why they hired Brad Shaw, he's a defense whisperer lol. I think he will help the defense.

Maybe he’ll get smarter as he matures

I don’t overly care about the brother schtick but I’d be pretty happy to land him.

Does he play the same side as Quin?

Yep - not ideal but oh well. By the time he’s ready we’ll know what we have in Rathbone and Juolevi.

He’s already 6’2 185, however.

Do you think NJ takes Hughes because of his brother playing there ?  Or will they take whoever they would have taken not considering that?

I read a mock draft where the caption was something like “I’ve heard that NJ is definitely taking him and I’ve heard NJ is definitely not taking him.” So I think that’s the wild card.

From what I can piece together, there should be better all around D men (Edvinsson?)  on the board at 4 so Hughes could be a bit of a reach there.  From the sounds of it we’ll get *someone* good at 9 so I’m not holding my breath on Luke… just thought it was interesting to read some people were starting to have him falling to 9 which wasn’t the case awhile ago.

Yeah i agree who the hell could it be, no idea

Seems more like Kuzma was yapping than anything grounded in seriousness

Maybe Colton Parayko if St.Louis feels he won't re-sign, Seth Jones if Benning feels Brad Shaw & Travis Green (also played on development teams with Miller & Motte) have a strong enough connection with him to re-sign him, Dumba...somehow, I feel Erik Cernak is still the ideal fit but doubt he'll be moved.

Can't think of many more that would be worth a 9th overall.

A couple FAs out there that could be good too, namely Adam Larsson

I feel like the list of big, young, two-way or defensive RHD who are actually available is not very long

I'd settle for Sergachev, but Foote or Cernak would be okay second choices.

No S@$t!

Maybe they should make Kuzma GM. I doubt Benning has even thought of that…

Hes probably been trying to trade Eriksson for Hedman this whole time.

Love to get Cernak but the Lightning will have no motivation to move him.

He’s a top 4 on a good contract. They’ll be looking to move guys like McDonaugh, Johnson, and Killorn.

Also there’s rumours they’re looking to trade Stamkos. Would be a an easy way to get some serious cap out.

How about the 9th overall for Stamkos?

Miller Pettersson Stamkos

Hoglander Horvat Boeser

I know it was a joke.

You could probably get him for less than that anyways.

To be fair he’s still over a point per game player. The issue with him is staying healthy.
