5-years for Ian Clark, matches term of Demko's deal:

That is an interesting point. It does make sense as, while Green is recognized as a solid up and coming NHL coach, Clark is widely seen as one of the best goalie coaches in the league. Good to see Benning adding some pieces and moving others around.

Stoked to have Clark back, not so much to have Baumgartner back.  Happy to see Brown go.  Overall a good day!  Especially knowing we will get a new PP coach.

true but the new PP coach might be BUM

Coaching is obviously important but people go off the rails about it and it’s totally uncalled for.

you want a better power play? How about a point shot? Or a PMRHD to complement Quinn.
Most of our problems are holes in the lineup. There isn’t this drastic variation in systems across the league like many imply. We need some very big pieces to become a better team, coaching will do little to change that.

I see people complain about us just dumping and chasing all the time. Is green supposed to implement a puck possession style with the bottom 6 he has? It’s all about fitting the style with the players you have. That goes for the forwards and the D. We need an identity. We don’t really have one.

Leadeship along with coaching can make a big difference, Look at Trotz in Long Island and what he did before that in Washington. Coaches need to adapt to what they have and who there up against. Super important

I can NOT believe we brought back BUMMY of the Nolan variety...Thank god Brad Shaw is almost certain to take over the D core, leaving BUMMY or Jason King to be the new PP coach?

Maybe we should have hired the Sedins as Co Assistants or PP specialist coaches temporarily to get their feet wet then move them up into Abbotsford or Canuck Management in some other role? Couldn't be worse that retaining BUMMY of the Nolan variety!

Oh dear. You're about to get a voracious tongue lashing of the tas variety. Look out!

There was another thread where it was mentioned that Baumgartner was with the organization for all the years since his time in the AHL as a player, and that they weren't likely to part ways with him that easily due to loyalty on both sides.  I'm not surprised that they've kept him (though I do hope they aren't giving him the D coach role again this coming season), and it's possible that they're wanting him to be the understudy for Shaw so that when Shaw moves on, they can re-insert a newly reformed and freshly graduated Baumgartner to be the next D coach.

Can't see Shaw answering to him. I think, based on experience, Shaw is the coach that'll run the defense, and Baummy G will be relegated to assisting him, or wiping down the whiteboard after practices.

Now its time to get petey and quinns contract done as soon as possible.

To Kucherov/Sergachev type longer term bridge deals...to keep a competitive team together for a long time this is what needs to be done anyway from my GM standpoint. Follow TB model, having great success in recent history!

making him a #3 or 4 coach is okay I guess...why not bring trent cull on as an assistant as he has coached some of our young players and give BUMMY the HC job in Abbotsford??

I'd assume King or Gustafson. Would surprise me if they moved Baumer from defence to offence.

ugh to Baumer being moved to possibly PP coach.

Jason King? Really? Is he going to be better than Brown?

I don't know much about Gustafson....is he going to be a good addition to the coaching staff?

That's what an understudy often does.  ;)

The only reason bumgardiner is still here is because Green likes him.

Kirk Muller would've been nice, surround green with veteran assistants..

Agreed, both should have been gone but happy Shaw was brought in to hopefully take over and change how our D is used

Which is objectively great news.

If true *

We won't know until they get an opportunity. You never know who can excel where until they try.

Overall, the coaching staff got stronger today with the addition of Shaw and Gustafson.

This! He's no better than the others that have been called out on here! But, not surprised...defended them and went at me for calling them out.
