Hmm. I was in the minority that didn't think Brown was that bad, but am perfectly fine moving on if we do.

I do feel Baumgartner should probably not have been re-signed though. Very happy to see Clark back though.

I don't agree about your point on Brown. We were something like 25th in the league on the PP. Our penalty kill was also not great (17th, I think).

I do agree with Baumgartner getting fired. We were an absolute tirefire. That being said, I agree with other ppl here that the players saved his (and Green's job). On the other hand, I think Baumgartner is getting reassigned. Brad Shaw is now the defensive guru (I think), since he did that with St. Louis and Columbus.

Why do we have so many assistants? Oh well, I'm not complaining. It means Aquilini is willing to invest in this team to get better.

Yes, this is an interesting point to bring up again. This is why we should not believe the journalists in this town, including Ian MacIntyre, at least not completely. Wait and see is what we should be doing as a fanbase, but do not treat their words as gospel.

They said many things, and many of those things have turned out to be flat out wrong.

Also, props to Aquilini for not being 'cheap'. I'm tired of hearing this baseless accusation, despite him being one of the richest Canadians (and one of the richest sports team owners). Finally, we have stability - an owner who has a backbone and not listen to some of the IDIOT fans that have no idea what they talk about half the time.

there are very few media heads that I'd trust for this market. I'm not sure IMac is all that plugged in tbh. Certainly none of the guys like Harman whats his face and those characters from the Athletic Supporter.

Silovs, DiPietro and Demko are all winners with the Ian Clark extension. B)

pretty excited for Mikey. One more AHL year with Clark guiding him means there's a good chance we don't need to spend big on a backup through Demko's deal.

There was a time when Vancouver was called the goalie graveyard.  Now we're truly a goalie factory... with the only problem being goalie controversies lol.

Now if we can just pry whoever the defensive coach is out of Nashville, we could be a goalie and defenceman factory.

Shaw clearly has the CV! Developing Parayko, Seth Jones... I have this worry?

I HATED John Tortorella's defensive systems!

Collapsing back to the net in an impenetrable box.  Blocking shots? Which can work better when you have guys the size of Pietrangelo, Jones, spare them chasing small forwards into the corners. Sounds good in theory. If you have Seth Jones or Parayko?

I much preferred AV's attacking defensive systems. Burrows and Hansen high; flying out to the point to harass opposing D handling the puck at the line. The other, or Kesler hawking the passing lanes to steal pucks. Create odd man rushes. Our D rotating with the cycle down low & in front of the net. Forwards again looking for the pick off pass...

Don't know anything about Gustafson aside from a quick Google that he was with the Winterhawks for a long time.

I believe Gustafsson has been there, Portland, long enough?  He would have had his start with Travis Green & Mike Johnston?  @SID.IS.SID.ME.IS.ME ?

Apparently Shaw is a defensive coach so we got that covered, we need a PP specialist who can utilize Petey and Brock properly on the PP.

At one point, Brown was at the avantgarde of power play deployment in the NHL. It seemed clear that his strategies were figured out during portions of the last few seasons.

The thing with brown, per 2011 Canucks, is that he doesn't do much hands on coaching on the pp and let the player's creativity flow. It worked great with the Sedins and Kesler circa 2009-2012 who ozzes creativity.

This current core however still needs a bit more coaching at this stage.

Surprised Baumer is back, but pressure is still on

Ian Clark was a must sign and they got it done so kudos there :emot-parrot:

With the acquisition of Brad Shaw, I'm assuming that Baum G is taking a reduced role.
