If we hate virtanen already we ain't taking a guy like him that doesnt produce points. lind and 2nd for zadarov isnt bad but think we could switch that 2nd to a 3rd instead. larsson for 6.8 is a hell no Oleksiak is good pickup grandlund i dunno i would hope we could find a cheaper option myself overall not the biggest fan of this proposal Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...

Have you checked CapFriendly? We would only save $800,000 buying out Beagle, we would save more by sending him to the minors where we would gain $1,125,000 in cap relief. #3. We don't want to buy out Beagle, he's a really effective penalty killer for us and a fitness freak, which is a good thing to have around a young core. Further, its being speculated that he may not be able to continue playing next season and might need to stay on LTIR for the duration of his contract. #4. Roussel, you save $608,334 in cap space compared to sending him down to the minors if he can't outplay other guys in camp. For that, I'd rather give him benefit of doubt that he can regain the same level of play he had his first year here, before he blew his knee out and was off for 9 months. He was highly effective for us, contributing at more than .4 point per game. If we need to send him to the minors, he makes a good insurance policy for us. #5. See #1 #6. Virtanen has less than zero trade value and will be bought out as soon as the window opens. Regardless of whether or not he is guilty, the incident happened at a team event (likely training camp) and as a result the Canucks will move on from him. He will likely be playing in Europe next season. Buying him out only costs us 50k against next seasons cap and 500k the following because of how his contract was structured. It was loaded on the back end. #7. If we're trading Schmidt, it has to be for a better improvement on defense. If not, then Schmidt has more value to us as he is a effective D, who had a bad year / transition to a new team. Historically, he's a solid top 4. #8. See #1 #9. Adam Larson at 6.8 million? I think there's a LOT better value out there and I can't see him getting that with a cap that will be flat at 81.5 million for at least another 2, possibly 3 seasons #10. Mikael Granlund at 4.5 million? Way too high for a guy who's in sharp decline. Maybe 2 million 1 year show me deal. #11. That's an overpay for Zadorov. #12. Pettersson and Hughes at 6.5 for 3 years each, I'm using Tkachuk's contract at 7 million, signed before covid as a baseline and adjusting for flat cap. #13. See #1 #14. Juolevi, 800k, 1 way contract. He hasn't proven anything more than he deserves a one way deal. #15. Eriksson will be bought out, saving 2 million off next years cap and 1 million in actual dollars. #16. Your estimate on team salary hasn't accounted for remaining cap hit from buyouts or the remaining recapture penalty from Luongo. With those, you're about 10 million over cap on your estimations. qwijibo Posted June 11, 2021 Share Posted June 11, 2021 That Montreal trade makes zero sense from Montreal’s side. Defence is one if they’re strongest positions. There’s no word on why Drouin has taken a leave of absence from the team but if he does return to the team they’ll give him. Chance to get his career back on track. Even if they do decide to move him it most likely won’t be for a defenceman. Evans is a good young player with a ton of compete. I’d take over Virtanen any day if the week.
