Of course he is.  Where are you going to find a similar player in the draft who can partner Hughes for the next decade?  a 6'3" 230 pounder who can play 23 minutes a night and be on your top pairing?  There are no Cernak's in this draft.  He may not be worth a top 5 pick but he is definitely worth a first round pick any day of the week.

While I am fully in favor of trading for Cernak or I'd even settle for Foote as a consolation prize. But you never know when someone like Cernak is going to be available in a draft, the one thing that separates him from most others is the one thing you can't teach, size. I'd say someone like Logan Mailloux or even Roman Schmidt could turn out as a Cernak equivalent, you just never know.

Although I really don't like the idea of giving up the 9OA to get Cernak while simultaneously giving Tampa some more cap relief, I think it's a far better idea than giving it to Buffalo for Reinhart. If the team is going to trade the pick I'd like it to be for Cernak or a similar player, of which there aren't many, and then we can use the myriad of cap space we get after next season to chase a winger and a 3C. I wouldn't complain too loudly though if we also had to take Johnson as long as Tampa is retaining at least $1 million if that's what it takes to make the deal happen.

I'd also hold on to Woo and Roussel. Don't really mind Rooster that much, he's overpaid but his contract is up after next season and he's still right there with Motte as our best PKers. And as for Woo we just don't have enough RHD as far in their development as him and besides, the Bone - Woo pairing was phenomenal in the AHL, I'd like to see if they can keep that chemistry on the big team.

Well you can take your chance with the 9 pick and hope it works out or get a guarantee guy that youve watched play whos age fits right in with the rest of the core that can help immediately , a RHD stud dman your team hasnt had in a decade.

I'm good really good with trading the pick, as long as the return is worth it. I would always take the guarantee over the possibility. I just think we can do better than this proposal.

That doesn't mean that we have to agree on the return, and that's okay! :)
