Off Season Options (UFA, Buy outs and Draft) Who would you add?

Recommended Posts

If you could add 1 forward, 1 defenseman, 1 draft pick, one buy out who would it be?  Bonus, what line combinations would you have?

I don't think this is the off season to commit to any big UFA signings.

Let the kids play - Pod, Lind, Gajo, Rathbone, Lockwood, Woo, Brisebois, MDP, ect...rotate them in as necessary since Abby will be so close now and give them meaningful minutes to develop.

On D we need to sign some size/depth.   Any two of: Eagle, Oleksiak, Forbort, Nemeth, Hakinpaa on 2 year deals at the right price.

I'm worried after JB's public comments recently that he's interested in changing course dramatically from building through the draft and developing internally, but at the same time if something isn't working how long do you keep doing it before realizinga change is necessary?

Yeah, DeAngelo and Hughes on a top pairing would be terrible defensively lol.

We need big, solid RHD who are strong in their own end.  I say we re-sign Hamonic and give him a full training camp.  Then sign Hakanpaa as well.  This gives us some RHD depth while we see if Woo or anyone else we draft is capable.  We can afford these guys and they will allow our more offensive-minded players to do their thing.  Schmidt can play both so he will give us some flexibility.  We could sign Edler for 1 year at a much reduced rate to offer some leadership and continuity as well.  You need 9 nhl defencemen to make it through the year with injuries.

Hughes Hamonic

Schmidt Myers

OJ Hakanpaa

Edler

Rathbone

Woo

Affordable, Versatile, Big.

Not bad

I also like the idea of signing Wennberg.  He seems like a solid all-around player, offensive and defensive. He will give us much more flexibility than Sutter did as a 3rd line guy.  He can easily be a 2nd line center if Bo or EP are out.  He would be a great player to start Podkolzin with.  Would be the best center he ever played with.

Miller EP Boes

Pearson BH Hogs

Motte Wennberg Podz

That is a very strong top 9 with some real versatility and depth.  Lind and Gadjovich will be strong top 9 callups.

1 buyout = Virtanen

1 forward = Mikael Granlund

1 defenseman = Adam Larsson

1 draft pick = Dylan Guenther or Mason McTavish

Roussel and Beagle traded with sweeteners in the summer.

2021-2022:

Miller-Pettersson-Boeser

Pearson-Horvat-Eriksson

Hoglander-Granlund-Podkolzin

Motte-Lind-MacEwen

Highmore

Hughes-Larsson

Rathbone-Schmidt

Juolevi-Myers

Fantenberg (brought back)

Demko

Holtby

2021-2022:

Miller-Pettersson-Boeser

Pearson-Horvat-Guenther (Podkolzin)

Hoglander-Granlund-Podkolzin (or MM at center)

Motte-Lind-MacEwen

Lindholm-Schmidt

Hughes-Larsson

Rathbone-Myers

Demko

Dipietro

Juolevi or Rathbone possibly used as trade bait to shore up an area that needs shoring.
