(Proposal) Agressive offseason #2 the Vancouver Lightning

Recommended Posts

I believe we can be a playoff contender next year (now with Dougie Hamilton). Here are my aggressive offseason moves to accomplish that without trading away our 9TH OA pick.

the aggressive Trades are trading for Nolan Foote, Alex Killorn D.Hamilton's rights and  and trading Rousell with salary retained. Miller is a big help in bringing in all the tampa players

Buyout: J.Virtanen

Trade motte(replace with paquette) and Rathbone for Alex killorn (First line calibre forward on a great deal) and Cal Foote (basically Juolevi with more upside)

we trade rousell to any team for a 7th round pick or a previous 7th rounder and 800000 retained. (we probably still need to add a pick back. a 5th and a 6th?)

Our off-season major signing's are

Dougie Hamilton: show hughes the ropes 8.5X7 because guess what Myers get picked in the expansion draft

Hughes and Petey sign pretty much twin bridge 4*6M deals

Barclay Goodrow: Tampa moves on from goodrow because they can't afford him

David savard: schmidts partner another d-first guy (Guarnteed roster spot handshake deal)

Cedric Paquette: Motte 2.0 that can center our 4th line (Guarnteed roster spot Hand shake deal)

Brandon Sutter: hes taking a team friendly 1x800,000 NTC

Depth Players

Edler he either makes the team ahead of Juolevi or gets press duties. team friendly last minute signing for LTIR cap calculations

Graovac. min league deal starts in AHL

No. Big part is really faded.

copy pasting is really screwy on this forum. sometimes it screws up the formatting. potentially deleting and re-writing the entire proposal will fix the solution but probably not. i suggest switching to dark mode where the formatting will look fine.

If we could do this that would be nice.   Hamilton i'd trade Schmidt or hope Vegas took him before i'd trade Myers.  That could end up a boffo D.

the tbl lightning trade isn't required, like you just said its just nice. it might be a very difficult trade and might require a 3way trade with seattle. TBL won't make this trade unless seattle will pick mcdonagh or johnson. TBL Would have to be pretty big on motte for this trade to work. but they did trade for coleman and goodrow for thier nice deals. and motte at 1.2m is a steal right now so maybe?

as long as we talk to Dougie and we make a handshake deal  we can trade schmidt/myers. but what will the return be pre expansion draft, I bet not many is interested until after the draft. and if we don't sign hamilton pre-draft we risk seattle just picking Hamilton. so what are his rights worth?  I bet his rights maybe just a 3rd maybe less.

I like it, but I don't want to lose Rathbone

but its aggressive though right? and not terrible? we could always add conditions to make it fair. Stevey y and Sakic made some pretty crazy trades with conditions.

heres the way i look at losing rathbone. can we afford to have two defenceman on our roster who will get muscled out on the PK? can 180lb d-men kill penalties, and if they can't what happens if we get an injury? Thats what scares me

Yeah, don't get me wrong....I like it and it is certainly aggressive

I just see Rathbone being an above average defender, with loads of offensive upside

I would keep Rathbone over Juolevi, myself..........but I could be wrong!

I like the Goodrow signing but don't think Savard will come that cheap unfortunately :(

i thought about that, but just forgot to add it to my proposal. are contract options still legal?

we could sign savard to a 1 year deal with a option for a 3 year extension with a total of 13.05m and a AAV of 3.2625

Year 1 1.85

Year 2 2.5

Year 3 2M signing bonus+4.5

Year 4 2.2m

It would be neat to see a trade proposal that doesn't include any TB players. Just because that team is having great success TOGETHER these days, doesn't mean one or two of them will be great here. Plus, acquiring any Lightning player will be very expensive.

Certainly aggressive, a lot of moving parts, other teams variables, wish lists and dreams

Are you trading Motte just for the sake of being aggressive?

i'm trading motte because he's injury prone and tbl probaly want some compensation for killorn. paquette replaces him but with less upside.

Here is a hint

Tampa is not dressing him at all

Foote is slow a foot, and not mean at all like his dad
