Nice to see him get some term. It's kinda funny to think about he likely could have gotten more term and dollars from Ottawa though if he'd put his ego aside.

Who in their right mind wants to play for an owner who doesn't care about winning?

Players who want an NHL job and NHL pay

Ottawa should trend upwards going forward, despite it not being what that sack of $&!# Melnyk deserves at all

how does overpaying for Duclair make Pearsons deal look bad?

If Duclair at $3M is an overpayment, what does that make Person's deal look like?  Worst contract in the league?

Duclair had 32 points in 42 games. Pearson had 18 points in 51 games.

Do the math... Duclair was twice the player Pearson was offensively last year.

Duclair's in his prime whereas Pearson's exiting his prime.

Most would also prefer to play for an owner committed to icing an NHL team as well though.  Melnyk probably offered to pay in food stamps.

Undoubtedly, but there are only so many jobs available every year. And Melnyk or not, the Senators are an NHL organization. They've got some quality youth over there.
