I wouldn't call this an aggressive move, barely heard of this guy. If he can win some faceoffs and play physical, good defensively, then maybe they've improved their bottom 6?  Highmore is a pretty good 3rd liner too, speed and grit. SEA could take him now, so did VAN really get better?

If Seatlle ends up taking Highmore, I say BFD. Highmore has the tools to be an effective bottom 6 energy guy but those players are a dime a dozen and the fact that Highmore is a smallish forward is a problem for me. It's like having Stecher at that position. Overall, love their game but come playoff time, their lack of size becomes a detriment to the success of the team.

And according to the fella from Texas/Salmon Arm, Dick is also a “straight line” “North/south” guy, which means he doesn’t bend or curve in any way, shape or form AND also now has no problems with and avoided any ED.

Nux can secure endorsement deals with Viagra and Cialis now.

It’s a win win.

I wouldn’t consider him the 3rd C we were looking for.

He is more of a winger than a C. From what I have seen his game is more suited there and after checking his deployment, Dallas has deployed him more so at wing the last 2 seasons.

Nevertheless he is a great defensive forward and might actually be our best defensive forward now. His underlying numbers are great and he isn’t afraid to play physically.

I can see a long-term fit as a sort of versatile 3rd LW that can take draws on his strong side and play C if need be(injuries/lack of depth). He could also be used on a shutdown line and can help ease in youngsters.

I would still seek out a better suited 3rd C long-term but he’d due for the time being(till we have cap).

I would lock him and Motte up long-term. We pretty much have our bottom 6 LW set for a long time.

Sorry guys, this is from Drance again but he is so excited about this trade:

I remember the fLames were after him in the playoffs last season. He's got some peskiness in him.

Podkolzin has yet to play an NHL game. Let's not talk about anything being obvious or anybody getting ahead of themselves.

If Sid likes it, I’m sold.

plus FWIW Drance and the Athletic boys have been suspiciously nice to management lately - they appreciated the leg work JB was doing to make this deal happen and they’re positive about the pickup.

If Dickinson can indeed lock down that 3C spot this is a solid win.

In the WAR model that those guys like, Dickinson is a top 5% defensive forward in the NHL. Now that's going to look different with the change in systems and team mates of course, but still very solid.

Mention on the first page he was over 70% last year

Which was a misprint.  Guy is closer to 40%.  But I’m warming up to the deal.  He is a very good defensive player, who is hard to play against.  We need more of those guys.

Nice pick up for cheap. Now time to move onto a scoring winger or dman

Yep.  Benning has accomplished the minimum that he needed to do with the forwards in terms of trades.  Now he can work on the D.

Miller Pettersson Boeser

Pearson Horvat Hoglander

Podkolzin Dickinson Motte

I can live with that.  And no 4.3 for Sutter.  How about 1.8 for Dickinson?
