So, how's the Bottom 6 looking?  (assuming Sutter walks and Roussel and Virtanen are bought out)

Motte - Dickinson - Podkolzin

Highmore - Beagle - MacEwen

Xtras

Lind

Lockwood

Gadjovich

I might be bananas but I would rather have Sutter at a reasonable contract at 4c over beagle

Then how would you fix the team then? Blow the team up?

Canucks add one piece in Dickinson - and you say the problems are so insurmountable, he can't fix it. Then Shaw, a defensive coach, is brought in. Oh, the team is so bad they can't fix it?

Obviously team defense is being addressed right now.

Obviously, Jim is adding around the periphery

Jim also resigned Green, not a fan

retained Baumer, not a fan

brought back Clarke, I am a fan,

I see above, someone says Dickinson "makes us hard to play against, the videos I found do not show that

do you have videos of Jason Dickinson being hard to play against?

Convincing John says Dickinson is one dimensional, do you have proof to say otherwise?

Roussell and Beagle are one dimensional, we have a lot of that

Shaw might well be a good coach, but I see a lot of comments like, "Hopefully he can convince Green to fix the defense" Is that realistic?

Good coach or bad I fear Shaw will be a lone voice in a room full of (not so) old boys

Jimmy McGill says, " maybe JD is not the answer to the 3c problem", so, what is he? Another warm body not quite cast right for the job at hand?

Jim said "Bold moves"

Is this it? or do we trade our first and second to try and scrape into the playoffs again

Awalk (not a friend of mine , nor

Con Johns as far as I know), says, "The Canucks are always trading future for the present" and I agree with that

If we are going to trade for a 3c, trade for 2010 Brian Boyle (whoever that might be) If that is Jason Dickinson, great, if not what is the point?

I think Shaws resume shows he's not a typical assistant. I have high hopes.

what do you mean by that?

I see he has been a head coach at some levels

but what do you mean "Not a typical assistant"?

and if he is not, will that gel with the current group?

what do you think he brings?

Yes cause Benning has had so many slam dunks when it comes to contracts.

As far as RFA's?

Demko

Motte

Boeser

Horvat

All amazing. Not very convincing John

Did you listen to his interview when he was hired? Have you looked into him at all on your own?

I like Dickenson. I would like Vancouver to get one more top 6 UFA so Miller can play 3rd line C with Podkolzin. Granlund is the guy for me. He has a ton of skill and can play LW or C.

Granlund Pettersson Boeser

Pearson Horvat Hoglander

Highmore Miller Podkolzin

Motte Dickenson Lockwood

MacEwan

Hughes Hamonic

Juolevi Myers

Rathbone Bowey

Brisebois Rafferty

Demko

Dipietro

With the flat cap I wonder what the price of some of these UFA guys will be

I like the look of that. Good call.

Can you add Zadorov as a back up plan just in case, please? Haha

Scratch that, I wouldn’t trade Myers for Domi. Myers for Reinhardt, sure.

Just a silly thought. I noticed that Alec Martinez (VGK) is a UFA. He is older (34), but Schmidt and him may be familiar with each other as they both played for the Knights for a season, maybe not the same pairing, but could this help with his game?  He also won a Cup with Pearson (LA)

Hughes - Hamonic

Martinez - Schmidt

Not sure if Dicksinson is a 3C on a true contender but he's worth a shot at this price. And even if he's not, he still improves our bottom-6 as we're pretty short on "good defensively but can still play hockey" guys.

I don't know that those contracts are amazing

Demko and Horvat are very good and fair

Both are ultra rare Mid-loaded contracts that start low and end low but are high in the middle

Are those the work of Chris Gear? I remember Lawrence Gilman getting a lot of credit for Gillis' contracts

anyway those ones are good

Boeser getting $7.5 in the final year could be a problem, not amazing

and Motter is Motter, a 4th line oft-injured guy for $1.225 seems fair but not exceptional

Motte even being in this conversation seems a little over-hyping
