Wolfgang Durst
that's a great deal for the Rangers - picking up a player like Goodrow for a seventh round pick. Would have liked this deal for VAN a lot.

brian42
despite being UFA a 7th still isn't a bad price to pay because he will most likley sign with them. a good trade to get the early negotiating window. could backfire but likley won't and it's only a 7th
Coconuts
A 7th to convince Goodrow you're a better option than the big UFA money Dude won a cup, he's going to UFA

Because trading a $925K AAV pending UFA is the way to dump "bad" contracts. Should call this deal for what it is...getting something for a player they are most likely going to lose for nothing. Some of these hockey scribes are simply moronic. Hoping Goodrow doesn't sign with the Rangers and goes to UFA and the Canucks are able to land him for $1.5M cap hit. At $925k, I don't see Goodrow as a "bad contract", I see him as someone the Bolts know they can't re-sign, so they got a late round pick for his rights. The Rags obviously feel they have a shot at signing him and it was worth a 7th rounder to get first dibs. However, I agree with @Coconuts....after the postseason he had, he'd be crazy not to test the UFA market. 1
Drive-By Body Pierce
Now I kind of want to see him sign with the Lightning as a UFA.

Could easily be referring to Johnson, or any contracts that aren't that bad but they can't afford.
