Really liking his play even amidst the current team slump (had like 6 shots, including a goal off of a high-effort play chasing the puck around the net, and had the PP goal not been offside it would've been a blistering slapper).  Hopefully, if some of Boeser/ Miller/ Horvat(?) get traded we get more high-energy and skill guys like him and Hoglander in return.

Unfortunately, the other side to this is that Garland has only two PP points this year.

True, but the Nucks PP hasn't been very good until recently, while the Oil's PP has been top of the league for most of the season.  Hopefully we'll see more PP goals from Garland as the season wears on.

Garland has been on PP2 all season which usually sees a max of 45 seconds every power play.  This is the reason why OELs points have dropped off so much. We have other guys on PP1.

Even still, Garland is 11th (last place of guys who have PP time) on PP points per 60 (2.00), though mind you, he's not super far behind OEL (2.10), Horvat (2.32), and Pearson (2.38). For whatever reason, it hasn't clicked with him yet on the PP.

Wow! Quite the story on Garland's hockey background. Sorry I cannot refer to it as when you get older you forget stuff like that. Anyway he played a year with Eichel back in Boston area. Garland outscored Eichel! Had two seasons in the Q producing + 128 points and 1st team All-Star both years. Has fought perceptions about his size since he was 6 years old. Been a scorer where ever he has played. Likes lots of ice time.  BB has been running him at a shade over 16 minutes which probably doesn't sit well with Garland.

So Friedman says JD has got Conor Garland in play (or at least, is listening to offers)

I suggested last November that Garland could be moved. My take then was questioning his effectiveness in heavy CUP play. The more teams see him the more they play the body to eliminate his shiftiness. The return has to obviously be worth giving up the points he produces but also his desire to win. IMHO he is right there with Miller in that department.
