It helps you not look like the entire tool shed if you just did a 2 second google search. Jones has 1 year left @ 5.4. AFTER this coming season the 9.5 kicks in.

Who freaking cares he has a new deal signed at 9.5M, that’s his value.

Also 6M signed in <2016 is not the same in 2021, it’s called inflation, look it up seems you like to do research so much

Honestly, I think this makes 7.5×5 the number. The hierarchy is out of whack here. It's Heiskanen, Makar, then Hughes. 9 per is a bit of an over payment by about a mil, but whatever. If they weren't gonna re-sign Landeskog, why not?!

Hughes is not worth 7.5 yet and might not be in 5 years time either.  JB has been pretty consistent with earn it contracts for his young core guys and I hope Petey and Hughes fall in line.  It's a team game and young guys can't hamstring the team

What happened to Hughes over makar? Ughhh.... All of last season? I guess you missed the memo.

Quinns true colours showed when he lost a premier shut down d man as a partner.

Appreciate him for what he is, but know he isn't an all around two way defensive stud.

Relax, I didn't miss anything.

I was just making fun of how everyone's tone has changed drastically from when everyone was calling Hughes our first, legit franchise defenceman. My comments had nothing to do with disputing Hughes' play last season. Yes, it wasn't great. I know.

You haven't got a clue my friend, i have seen your posts where people need to correct you on the daily.

Jones signed a 6 year 5.4m deal in 2016, taking him right to UFA status.
Factor in inflation, the fact huggy will have a 3/4 year deal AND flat cap. Not to mention his next to no rights RFA status. And the fact hes never considered a norris guy like everyone else signing these big dollar deals yet. YES he is a 6m on the high end.

Watch other teams top guys actually play, not look at the stat sheet. You can see how much more quinn needs to grow. You pay for what you have with the RFA status hes got, Not overpay for his untapped potential.

If he reaches norris potential after those 2/3 years and he will command 10+ i'd flip him to NJ just like CBJ just did with jones.

No way Hughes should be getting more than 6.5 mil for 3 years at this point. Makar got overpaid a bit but he is also a true #1 guy. Hughes is an offensive specialist (minus thegreat shot) who was one of the worst 5 on 5 defenders in the entire NHL last season.

If Hughes wants to hit a homerun on this contract I would have no problem if they traded him for a huge haul that would likely be more valuable than what he brings.

Benning himself said he got OEL because:Hughes needs sheltering. Gotta wonder how that played with Hughes camp.

Weird term and dollar. Why not just give em 8 years? You're paying premium dollar for pretty middling term. They are buying like 1 or 2 UFA years. He'll be a 28 year old UFA. Sound familiar? Yeah his name is John Tavares. But at least Tavares wasn't paid insane amounts of money on that NYI deal. It was really team friendly. Colorado should have either went with a 3-4 year deal or the max. Oh well, that's their prerogative.

Well...one could hope...but that's not what the market says, Stawns

Lmao cdc calling Makar overpaid while we have myers at an albatross and OEL coming around 7

I don't think makar is overpaid, but that's going to sink that franchises hopes for a cup I think.

Apple to Apple buddy, can’t compare a 6 year deal with a 3/4.  Of course price will change on a shorter term deal with Hughes banking on his success to sign a bigger deal after that.  But if you wanna lock him up long term, you gotta pay a little more now so that deal looks better down the road.

you and I don’t  decide the market on Hughes, the market does.  Right now, the market is at 9 for Makar, 8.45 for Heiskanen, 8 for Chabot and 6.75 for Provorov.  Where Hughes fits on that list is debatable, but pretty sure he’s closer to the top than bottom.

funny, I didn’t know people where correcting me daily when I post a few times a month only.  Must be typing in my sleep.  If your taking CDC’s validation as who right and who’s wrong, that tells me all need to know about you, clearly wasting my time arguing with you lol.

I'd say he's below Provorov

I think he's totally overpaid.   What is wrong with GMs these days.  EK won or was a finalist and did things that only Coffey, Orr and Potvin managed as in top ten in scoring three times in a row and wasn't making the same percentage.  And Tavares was pretty darn good and wasn't either.   This is flat cap.  Sakic ... small taxes.  He's making JB look like a genuis so far.

And he won't get it. Love Hughes, but he's not at Makars level. Noy yet anyways.

I hope your right, but IDK, switch players and see what Quinn would do on the Avs, and vice versa.

I really want Hughes to sign for less, but it won’t be a lot less or he really likes where JB is steering the ship and he and Petey make a deal, in the same vein as Horvat and Boeser left money on the table.  Build a winner.

let’s see.
