Alright, I keep looking and I can't find it. I did some chores and I'm back. Did JN trade the fourth for another fifth or something? What picks do we have now? I'm confused.

You're not the last to know..just woke up in hot/humid Asia. The noggin has gone tropical-bananas :^)

Yup.  But every year they're proclaimed as "steals" so this year i'm just gonna wait and see and hope Benning can manage to scrape up some RHD somewhere for the future

In a way, the odds are against almost any pick outside the top 3 not making it are greater than making it.

Agree,  huge position of need without a 3 rd.  But with that in mind, JB has shown no hesitation in taking a d man, they must have had this player as a really heads and shoulders better than their next option.

it’s gold panning, won’t know until we see the results…

Well, he will be compared to Dylan Guenter, so they can fight it out one day.  I like the home run type of pick.

this draft is wild.

I'm the same way, bit of a gambler. Swing for the femces when you really only have one pitch to look at.

2020-21 Team: Minskie Zubry (#37)
Date of Birth: Jan 9, 2003
Place of Birth: Pinsk, Belarus
Ht: 6-foot-1 Wt: 187 pounds
Shoots: Right
Position: Center
NHL Draft Eligibility: 2021 first-year eligible

“The size, the skills, the hockey sense are all there for him to be an offensive producing player and he’s consistent in his approach. He’s got NHL speed and competes hard. Now, he does have a flair for the dramatic at times, but that’s good. It means he’s confident, but, every shift, he’s first on pucks, always going to the net and he’s got that knack to be open and available to get that shot off. He’s on the top line and is the top scorer and he’s one of the first forwards coming back on the play.” – Dan Marr, director of NHL Central Scouting

“While his skill is clearly raw, he’s got a quick release and, in a similar vein as Alex Ovechkin, he has a knack for finding open ice – something Klimovich considers a strong point in his game. Klimovich has agile hands that allows him to control the puck effectively and while his skating isn’t anything special, he can move the puck at a nice speed.” – Steven Ellis, The Hockey News

Strengths

  • Speed
  • Shot
  • Compete level
  • Creativity
  • Leadership
  • Hockey IQ

Under Construction (Improvements to Make)

  • Needs to develop physically and mentally

After seeing this vid, can say this young man has all the tools, and size to go with it.

Great pick sense, always looking for a lane,. Or ahead on the timing.

Players Agent is wondering if KHL or OHL would be better suited..

could he not go to our Farm in Abby.. he seems big and fast enough to roll in the AHL.?

or perhaps ineligible?

Everything about Klimovich screams top six winger or top line winger.  Heavy shot, good skating, gets to the open areas etc.  Playing on a longshot team in the WJC he got 7 goals in 6 games.  Give him a better supporting cast and he could have been even higher up in the tourney.  I actually thought that Klimovich would be the steal of the draft and then seeing him go to the Canucks was a major surprise.

His only flaws are apparently in maturity in thinking the game and if you put him in the right system with the right coaches I bet he flourishes.

Really? That's some praise for this guy.

Why do you think he is the steal of the draft?

I’m not going to proclaim to be an expert but if you take a guy with all the skills you would want and put him into a solid development system he could be something special.  His scouting report shows him to have a great shot, great speed, high hockey IQ, Leadership and Drive and that he only needs to physically mature (while being 6’2, 190) I think it’s a recipe for success.  Watching video on him appears to prove these things to be true but we’ll see.

In my mind the only reason he went in the 2nd is because few scouts got to see him until he emerged in the Juniors on a pretty bad team.

So he's the total package. Curious why he wasn't drafted in the first round, or earlier in the second round?

I think it’s because he was a total unknown until he jumped onto the scene at the world juniors.  If he can get into a proper system in the KHL/AHL or NCAA he can likely refine anything he needs to.  Also never hurts anytime a scouting report says “….like Ovechkin…” :bigblush:

He’d be better off in the K as Canada will more than likely go into another lockdown in the fall. More rink restrictions, no media, blah blah blah

He's better off in Canada so we can control his development

Is he eligible to enter into the Abby system?
