Some prospects never make the big stage, even they've got talent, skill & good skating. Well he did play for the Sharks last year and put up okay numbers.. Look up the careers of those struggling 18 year olds. I'll gamble that they're very short lived.

Just, just...... Will Nylander played his 18 year old season in Sweden. Came over for 19 D+2, but that's neither here nor there. More importantly, to me at least, is this: William Nylander - #8OA Alex Nylander - #8OA Jesse Puljujarvi - #4OA Filip Chytil - #21OA Zemgus Girgensons- #14OA And the 9 players younger than Klimovich in the AHL this season: Fabian Lysell - #21OA Simon Edvinsson - #6OA Isak Rosen - #14OA Chaz Lucius - #18OA David Jiricek - #6OA Brad Lambert - #30OA Filip Mesar - #26OA Simon Nemec - #2OA Jiri Kulich - #28OA And that's not even including: Brandt Clarke - #8OA Or Shane Wright - #4OA Because they technically arent AHL eligible and have only played there on "conditioning stints" Are you seriously trying to compare his progress to a group consisting ENTIRELY of 1st round picks, including 5 top 10? The average draft postion of that entire group is 14th OA, that's almost a full 30 picks higher than Klim. Gee, I wonder why they aren't all progressing at the same rate? If Klimovich becomes a middle six winger would that not be a big win for a second rounder. Most of the players you have listed are high first rounders pegged to be first line players. A big win for a second round player is Demko. This is why this franchise is ass. We don't draft worth shit.

I'd argue and agree Agree our drafting has been subpar as our last crop of truly good talent came at the exact same time from 2004/2006 Argue that our development has ben a bigger issue as our last truly good developed players came at the exact same time from 2004/2006 Since then we've failed to develop any actual players worth mentioning and that's absolutely terrible. Now do the 1st round picks who completely flamed out too. Draft pedigree and placement goes out the window the second the draft is over. CanuckinEdm
They should have let him play in the CHL last year and dominate while learning the small ice.
Wolfgang Durst
Jim Benning and his team went off the board by selecting Klimovich at 41th overall in the second round of the NHL draft 2021. Just searched for the consensus draft rankings for 2021 and found that Klimovich was ranked at 65. Klimovich's six goals in 5 games in the WJC under 18 certainly played a role in selecting him with the 2nd round pick. Not sure if Canucks had a pro or amateur scout in Belarus to watch Klimovich playing. I find it strange that Canucks come up with a development plan after Klimovich played a whole season in the AHL. I would have expected that they hand him a development plan over at his start in north america more than 1 year ago. Well, drafting him at 41 was a stretch and i am curious how he is going to deal with the adversity he is facing right now.

He has the tools and skills but maybe not the in game IQ / awareness yet. Give the kid some time to develop.
