Unless Tampa has given his agent permission to talk early to other teams.. can they do that with a pending UFA?

Interesting trivia about Maroon: he began his pro career at 17 with the Texarkana Bandits if the NAHL. As an 18 year-old he led St. Louis (after relocating from Texarkana) to a league title. His coach was Jon Cooper. After winning two NAHL championship titles, Cooper moved to the USHL, where he again won a league championship. From there he coached the AHL Norfolk Admiral to a league championship. In 2012 he was hired by Tampa and has coached his team to three Stanley Cup Finals, winning two, with Maroon in his lineup. This must complete their perfect circle of happiness. 2 2

drummer4now
I was just thinking he might come back since he didn't want to leave the first time around and was interested in resigning in Vancouver. Makes sense a 2 time Stanley cup winner with veteran experience. Proud of how he salvaged his career before it was too late that or he would just been wasted on the Leafs roster. GB5
Schenn was very solid in the playoffs this year, I was impressed with his poise. He would be a welcome addition imo.

That would be awesome. He’s shockingly only 31 and brings a bit of muscle. Schenn was one of those man-child 18 year olds that set the NHL on fire for the Leafs when he broke into the league. And somewhere along the way, the Leafs messed him up and traded him to the Flyers for James Van Riemsdyk, where he never got traction like he did when he was 18 and 19 in the NHL. I really liked having Schenn on the Canucks on his last go-around (and didn't think his foot speed was as a big problem as everyone made it out to be) and I thought he was super playing alongside Quinn Hughes. I'd love to see him back in a Canucks jersey...2 years at $1.25M AAV would be a steal, IMHO.

hiebskey
Exactly the kind of D man we need as a 6/7. Hopefully this comes to fruition on a cheap deal.

Okay one of us remembers this differently. I’ve had a few concussions but I remember us offering him a contract and him deciding on Tampa. 2

Phil_314
Yes please to Luke Schenn. Could definitely do worse than a 6'2" RHD who's still youngish and rugged to pair with our mobile left defenders.
