[Signing] Canucks sign Tucker Poolman

Winnipeg's my 2nd favourite team and I will say that I don't know the moves they made for their D core. It's very risky for them.

Regardless, they felt fit to spend assets to replace the likes of Poolman.  That obviously doesn't speak too well to how they viewed Poolman as a top 4 option.

Would still like to add another top 4 D man.

Poolman can fill the role that Benn did the last couple years.

The way I see things now.

OEL - UFA/Trade

Hughes Hamonic

Rathbone Myers

Juolevi Poolman

Need a better top 4 guy IMO

I dont think they are paying Poolman 2.5 million to sit in the press box. No more cap room for another top 4 Dman as well.

Feel I’m in the minority now but I like this signing.

From what I see, it looks good, have done a little research. I don't like to try and chime in on players I'm largely unfamiliar with. After digging into him a little, he looks like he's pretty promising:

He'll be playing in our top 4.

We wouldn't have given him 4 years and 2.5M annually to play the 7th D role.

Benn was making 2 mil and in the same role.

Id like us to look at trade options now for younger stay at home guys on cheaper contracts.

Someone like Cernak but more attainable.

Think its going to be tough to add that type of Dman this year, given the market & our expendable asset situation.

Hughes - Hamonic

OEL - Myers/Poolman

Rathbone - Poolman/Myers

This is how I see it shaking out, and hopefully next year we can look at Manson/Parayko.

We paid Benn to do it.

We still don’t know what Petey and Hughes contracts look like.

There may be more cap for another top 4 in the 2-3 mil range.

Exactly what we need more of. We have plenty of run and gun D at the moment.

No kidding.

We got enough puck movers in OEL, QH, Myers, Rathbone.  All of them jump up in the play.  So who's staying back to play D??

Benn also didn't have 4 years on his deal.

I like Cernak but Tampa loves him more.  No chance we get a deal done there, cap problems or not.  I'd say they'd move McDonagh before they move Cernak.

Why I said more attainable.

I know we’re not getting him.
