Googlie
Schedule: https://abbotsford.canucks.com/schedule/ The Canucks will start the season on a three-game road trip beginning Saturday, October 16 against the Bakersfield Condors before heading to Ontario, CA, for two contests versus the Reign. The club’s highly anticipated inaugural home opener will take place the following week on Friday, October 22 as part of a two-game series against the Henderson Silver Knights. Abbotsford will then host Ontario for a two-game set to close out their inaugural homestand before heading back out on the road. As the newest member of the AHL’s Pacific Division, Abbotsford will play all eight teams in their division either four times (Colorado, Tucson, Henderson) or eight times each (Bakersfield, Ontario, Stockton, San Jose, San Diego). Abbotsford’s schedule also includes interdivisional play, with the Canucks facing off against the Manitoba Moose (8 games), Laval Rocket (4 games) and Toronto Marlies (4 games) during the regular season. The holiday season will be highlighted by a back-to-back series against the Tucson Roadrunners at the Abbotsford Centre from December 22-23, while the Canucks will ring in the New Year in Abbotsford on Friday, January 7 vs the Bakersfield Condors. The Canucks’ longest homestand of the season will be six games from Tuesday, March 29 to Saturday, April 9, during which the team will play a pair of games each against Toronto, Laval, and San Diego. Googlie
Talking schedules, it'd be interesting to mesh the parent and farm schedules, and see if it would be worthwhile to lease an aircraft for the season. Would let the farm team fly into Sacramento, Ontario and San Diego without always going through LA with WJ or AC (offhand I don't know if Stockton or Henderson could handle a 737 or somesuch). If there were overlap, have the 2 teams fly together - that'd be a thrill for the farm boys
Popular Post Stierlitz
Just to remind what AHL team belongs to which NHL club. Smashian Kassian
Excited to see this team. They've definitely spent money on talent, don't think it'll be like our first year in Utica.
Googlie
For the 2022-23 season, when Palm Springs is activated, 2 western teams will move, to create a balanced schedule, with Colorado and Tucson, Arizona being the candidates (to the Central, with one of their teams, possibly the Moose, moving to the North division where there are 3 other Canadian teams). There was some talk down south over the winter (before Abbotsford was finalized) of just Colorado moving to the Central, with Vancouver's farm team, wherever placed, , as the new kid on the block, moving to the north division. Hopefully we stay in the west. Would be neat having all 7 of the big team's rivals also be rivals of the farm team.

Popular Post GoldenAlien
Contract breakdown, 2nd edition. Who will be the (Abby) Canucks' highest paid players, and how much is this roster worth? Forwards Justin Dowling: $750,000 Phillip Di Giusepp: $450,000 Nic Petan: $425,000 Justin Bailey: $400,000 Sheldon Dries: $300,000 Sheldon Rempal: $125,000 John Stevens: $100,000 Danila Klimovich: $80,000 (plus $92,500 signing bonus) Carson Focht: $70,000 (plus $92,500 signing bonus) William Lockwood: $70,000 (plus $92,500 signing bonus) Karel Plasek: $70,000 (plus $80,000 signing bonus) Jonah Gadjovich: $70,000 Chase Wouters: AHL contract (likely around $70,000-$90,000) Vincent Arseneau: AHL contract (likely around $70,000-$90,000) Total: $3,050,000 (plus $357,500 in bonuses) Defensemen Brad Hunt: $800,000 Madison Bowey: $750,000 Brady Keeper: $750,000 Kyle Burroughs: $400,000 Devante Stephens: $150,000 Jett Woo: $70,000 (plus $92,500 signing bonus) Guillaume Brisebois: RFA, likely around $200,000-$250,000 Total: $3,120,000 (plus $92,500 in bonuses) Goaltenders Michael DiPietro: $70,000 Arturs Silovs: $70,000 (plus $80,000 signing bonus) Team total: $6,310,000 (plus $530,000 in bonuses) *Assumes $70k for Wouters/ Arseneau and $200k for Brisebois This reflects AHL salaries only -- most of these guys will get the $750,000 NHL minimum when they're called up. The guys on ELCs also have performance bonuses, but those are based on NHL performance, so they'll only get them if they do well on the big team. Wouters and Arseneau are on AHL contracts, so their salaries are not disclosed, but AHL minimum salary is $52,000 and the average salary is around $90,000. Considering Wouters is an undrafted free agent and Arseneau is a 4th line enforcer, they're probably making around the same as NHL prospects on ELCs ($70,000), and no more than the $90,000 average. Brisebois still has to be signed, though Sautner's two-way contract paid him $200,000 in the AHL last year and Chatfield got $225,000 on his new two-way contract with the Canes. Brisebois will probably get a two-way deal that pays him around $200-$250k in the minors. AHL teams often carry 25-26 players to prepare for call-ups and their own injuries, so the Canucks will likely sign 2-3 more AHL contracts. The total salary of the roster will likely end up around $6.5 million before bonuses and over $7 million all-in. A couple other observations: Three players -- Dowling, Keeper, Burroughs -- have two year contracts. Four players -- Petan, Hunt, Stephens, Burroughs -- are from metro Vancouver. Googlie
Wonder what that means for Silovs. Iirc we've always carried 3 goaltenders on the farm, but one was usually a vet who saw limited ice time (Bachman for a few years), but at 26, Martin isn't that old... just 7 months older than Demko Edited August 1, 2021 by Googlie

ECHL is not gonna help his development. Also, this is a pretty minor question that is unrelated to your thread: why did Brady Keeper get a one-way contract? He seems very unproven, and not really someone of his calibre (no offense) would get until later on. Maybe this was a 'nice thing to do'? I don't get it. It is a bit puzzling to me as well but I am thinking this has Ron Delorme's fingerprints all over it. I wonder if they see a bit of a Gino Odjick type of player in him except as a D man? If he comes even close to that type of player he will be a big hit with the fans.

stanleysteamersmyl
There will be more eyes on the Abby Canucks compared to the few reporters in Utica. I think the Abby Canucks will play great in Abbotsford. Crazy Canuck fans will love them especially those who are posting day and night.
